The Bharat Stage 6 emission norms will come into force from 1st April 2020. All the carmakers are preparing their engines to be BS6 compliant. We have seen many of them already bringing out their updated cars with BS6 complaint engines. Maruti Suzuki has led the way forward as it has already launched many BS6 cars.
Here is a list of the BS6 compliant cars from Maruti Suzuki:
1. Maruti Suzuki S Presso
The ‘micro SUV’, as Maruti likes to call it, is the latest product from the Japanese car maker. It has been doing exceptionally well and has entered into the top 10 selling cars in India. It comes with a 1.0 litre petrol engine that produces 68 bhp and 90 Nm of torque. It offers excellent fuel economy and decent equipment list at its price point. Its rivals include Renault Kwid and Datsun Redi Go.
2. Maruti Suzuki Alto
The Alto is the best selling car in India. It is the first model from Maruti to be updated with a BS6 engine. The entry level hatchback has been the best option for many first time car buyers thanks to its practicality, small dimensions and excellent fuel economy. It comes with a 800 cc petrol engine.
3. Maruti Suzuki Swift
Maruti has also updated one of its most popular hatchback, the Swift with a new BS6 compliant 1.2 litre petrol engine. The car is known for its smooth ride and performance. Currently the car is in its third generation.
4. Maruti Suzuki Dzire
The Dzire is undoubtedly the king of the compact sedan segment as it heavily outnumbers its rivals such as the Honda Amaze, Tata Tigor and Ford Aspire. The company has updated the 1.2 litre petrol engine on the Dzire to meet the upcoming emission norms.
5. Maruti Suzuki Wagon R
The Wagon R turned 20 last month but still continues to be on the leaderboard as far as sales are concerned. The 1.2 litre petrol engine has already been updated while the smaller 1.0 litre petrol engine is yet to be updated. The spacious cabin, good mileage and excellent city driving are its main selling points.
6. Maruti Suzuki Baleno
Baleno is the best selling premium hatchback in the country. It now gets a 1.2 litre Dual jet Dual VVT BS 6 engine. The Baleno also gets Suzuki’s Smart Hybrid Technology. Distinctive styling and sportier performance are the reason behind its popularity.
7. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga
One of the best selling MPVs in India after the Innova Crysta, the Ertiga is an important product for Maruti Suzuki in India. The Ertiga is now available with a BS6 1.5 litre petrol engine. It also comes with Suzuki’s mild hybrid, SHVS technology.
8. Maruti Suzuki XL6
The XL6 is the most premium offering from Maruti is a 6 seater MPV and is based on the Ertiga. It comes with a BS6 compliant 1.5 litre petrol engine. Maruti launched its most premium offering, the XL6 last year.
