Mahindra BS6 : Launched Car and Upcoming in Auto Expo 2020
As the automakers continue the transition of their products into the BS VI era, many have already done so, even before the deadline. Mahindra on the other hand has just one BS VI product, i.e., the XUV300. Mahindra will bring out the BS VI compliant models in phases, starting from the XUV 300.
BS VI XUV300
The XUV300 is a compact SUV and rivals the Tata Nexon, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford Ecosport, Hyundai Venue and Honda WRV. It is powered by a 1.2 litre turbocharged BS VI compliant petrol engine that produces 108 bhp and 200 Nm torque and is mated to a 6 speed manual transmission. However, Mahindra hasn’t updated the 1.5 litre diesel engine yet. The BS VI petrol XUV 300 is now costlier by Rs. 20,000.

MAHINDRA AT AUTO EXPO 2020
Mahindra has announced that it will showcase 18 models at the biennial event. The range comprises petrol, diesel, electric cars as well as commercial vehicles. Mahindra has special focus on electric cars and future mobility as the Indian automaker will also showcase its electric architecture, range if batteries, charging stations and zero waste technology.
Veejay Ram Nakra, chief of sales and marketing, Mahindra said, “We are delighted to reveal our theme for Auto Expo 2020. At Mahindra we are driven by purpose for tomorrow that is clean, green and technologically connected. Our upcoming display of electric passenger and mass mobility products, concepts and solutions will meet the needs of today and also position us for future. We are fully prepared to complete our transition into the BS VI era and our display of BS VI ready current and future engines will also demonstrate our commitment towards being future ready.”
Mahindra eKUV 100
It has been a long wait for the Mahindra eKUV 100. Once showcased at the Mahindra expo 2018, the production ready version is ready and will be launched in March this year. It will have a range of 180 km from a 165 KW battery.
Mahindra has already updated the XUV 300 with a BS VI compliant engine. Now we will have an electric version of the compact SUV at the Auto Expo. It will get a 150 KW battery pack that will yield a 250 km range.
This will most likely be a prototype version of the XUV 500. Currently, we do not have much details on the electric XUV 500.
This will be the rival of the Bajaj Qute. The Mahindra Atom concept was showcased at the Auto Expo 2018 and this time around we will see the production ready model. It will be powered by a 48 KW motor, with a power output of 15 KW. Being a quadricycle, its top speed will be restricted to 70 kmph.
Mahindra has also launched a teaser of its electric vehicle portfolio for the upcoming Auto Expo. In the extreme left, it seems the eXUV 500, followed by eXUV 300, followed by eKUV 100 and the Atom quadricycle at the extreme right. The teaser reads “THE FUTURE IS ELECTRIC: Come be a part of India’s largest EV showcase”
