Mahindra XUV300 Petrol AMT Spec, Mileage, First Drive Review
2021 Mahindra XUV300 Petrol AMT Spec, Mileage, First Drive Review - Better than Nexon / Brezza Petrol AMT?
Mahindra has just launched the XUV300 with an AMT in the petrol range. Ever since its launch the XUV300 was only available with a manual gearbox but rise of competition in this class of SUVs with automatics, meant Mahindra had to add an automatic option, which it has now. This is the new XUV300 AMT and gets some big changes in that regard as we will see now.
What Has Changed in the XUV300 AMT Petrol Exterior and Colour Option?
Nothing as Mahindra has not done any big changes to the XUV300's design hence it looks the same. However the automatic variant is called as Auto Shift hence there is a new badge saying the same at the rear which signifies this as the automatic XUV300. In terms of colours there is a change as it gets new dual-tone red and light blue-ish colours called as Dual-tone Aquamarine. This is available on only the W8(O) AutoSHIFT variants.
What are the XUV300 AMT Petrol Specifications?
The XUV300 AMT or Auto Shift gets the 1.2l three cylinder turbo petrol engine which develops 110hp and 200Nm. The gearbox is a 6-speed AMT as we have said earlier.
How does the XUV300 AMT Petrol Drive?
The XUV300 AMT is quite refined at start and when you start driving you will appreciate the automatic gearbox. It gets a creep mode of course and that makes it easier to drive in the stop-go traffic. Unlike any gear levers the XUV300 has a special shift like gearlever where you have to tap the gear lever along with shift it to N or D or Reverse. It took some time to get used to it but it worked and is different from the usual gear lever.
In D mode the XUV300 is pretty decent in the response and the pause plus the huge jerks you get when you suddenly shift is not there. Being an AMT of course it is not as smooth as a DCT nor as responsive but the gearbox has much less lag than other AMT units. Like other AMTs you also get the manual option with the gearlever and it also gets kick down shifts for quicker acceleration. If you are in the highway and want the instant acceleration then yes the manual mode makes sense. For most the D mode is enough for the XUV300to cruise. The AMT does add convenience but the manual XUV300 is better to drive.
What Features do you get in XUV300 AMT Petrol ?
The XUV300 is loaded with features like a sunroof, new connected tech feature with over 40 such features, touch screen system with smart phone connect, steering controls, 17-inch wheels and more.
Mahindra XUV300 AMT Petrol Mileage Prices & Rival?
The XUV300 AMT is Rs 50,000 more than the manual as having an AMT brings a small price increase while the fuel efficiency of 11-13 kmpl is quite good. The XUV300 AMT is priced between Rs 9.9 lakh to Rs 11.7 lakh. If you want a compact automatic SUV that is easier to drive in traffic and a Best-in-class 5 star safety rating, then this is a decent option. The XUV300 AMT Petrol is slightly costlier than some of its rival Petrol Automatic B-SUV like Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Venue and Nexon. We recommend you to Test Drive the new XUV300 AMT Petrol along with the other rival Petrol Compact SUVs and find the suitable compact SUV for your need.
