Tata Altroz iTurbo 110 PS vs 1.2 L 86 PS Comparison Review
Tata Altroz iTurbo Hot Hatch vs 1.2 L Petrol Spec, Performance, Mileage & Price Comparison Test Review
Tata recently has launched the Altroz with a turbo petrol engine. That was much awaited and that also brings to question whether you should buy the standard 1.2l petrol or buy the Altroz iTurbo since the price difference is not a huge amount. What would you gain or lose if you do buy the Altroz Turbo petrol or not? We tell you in this spec comparison below.
Altroz Turbo vs 1.2l Petrol Engine Specification Comparison
The main difference in both cars is the newer engine for the Altroz. Called as iTurbo, the Altroz top of the line variant now gets the same Nexon 1.2l three cylinder turbocharged motor which makes 110hp and 140Nm. That is more from the standard Altroz 1.2l petrol's 86hp and 113Nm. Both have a standard 5-speed manual.
Altroz Turbo vs 1.2l Petrol Engine Features & Other Changes?
Probably the other biggest change would be the addition of the Sports mode to the Altroz iTurbo. The standard version does not have that. Sport/ City gives you a different option to choose the throttle response. The turbo version also gets a better sound system with the 2 additional tweeters by Harman.
Altroz Turbo vs 1.2l Petrol Driving Experience Comparison
The standard 1.2l petrol has a decent power output and is perfect for a city hatchback but also with occasional highway use. However it lacks power a bit and if you prefer driving or do a lot of long distance driving then the turbo petrol is just a lot better. The power delivery is not flat and there is a meaty midrange. Also unlike the standard 1.2l petrol you are not downshifting hence the turbo is easier to live with.
Altroz Turbo vs 1.2l Petrol Mileage Comparison
The standard 1.2l Altroz delivers 19.05 kmpl while the turbo version gives 18.03 kmpl. However in the real world the extra torque that the turbo has gives the Altro iturbo a better figure with less downshifts and revving the engine resulting in better economy.
Altroz Turbo vs 1.2l Price Comparison
The Altroz iTurbo is only Rs 60,000 more expensive over the 1.2l Altroz which means it is without doubt the better engine and the one to buy. You get more power and an easier city drive plus the extra sports mode and the better sound system. Makes sense to buy the iTurbo in our books.
