Tata Tiago facelift 2019
Tata Tiago was launched in 2016. Initially announced as tata zica, tata changed its name after the name showed resemblance to zika virus. Tiago was later chosen from online suggestions which is a popular masculine name in Portuguese. The concept of Tiago was derived from tata bolt but with the failed success of the bolt, tata changed a lot in terms of quality with the new Tiago.
With the increase In the feature list and the quality, tata heavily modified and shortened the new car to keep the price in check. Tata motors ditched the old multijet engine and brought the revotron. Later in September, tata launched Tiago NRG which is a 10mm taller version of the tata Tiago. Along with the increase in size, it had raw plastic guards for the bumpers and sills, two-tone alloy wheels and a rear bumper shield. The NRG came in 1.2 petrol and 1.05 diesel engine.
In October 2018, the Tiago JTP was launched which was a sportier version of the regular Tiago. The new car came with a 1.2-litre Revotron Turbo engine with a max output of 114 PS of power which was 29 PS higher than all the other versions. The engine was manufactured by JT Special Vehicles or JTSV, a joint venture between Tata Motors and Jayem Automotives. The car can accelerate from 0-100 km/hr within 10 seconds. Their design changes include revised front grille, new bumper at the front and dual exhaust pipe at the rear.
After so many new versions, the Tiago was due for a facelift which it has scheduled to receive now.
The new tiago may get the following upgrades:
- The new Tiago facelift will come with a new digital instrument cluster with small central screen flanked by light bar readouts for fuel and RPM.
- The digital instrument cluster is expected to be a lot similar to that of Renault kwid.
- The car is most likely to receive the exterior inspired by tata altroz
- Inspired by altroz, the car will receive upgrades based on IMPACT 2.0 design philosophy.
- Exterior wise, the car will come with revised bumper design, updated headlights with LED DRL's and new alloys.
- New designs of headlights and taillights are to be expected.
- The facelift is most likely to get an interior makeover as well in terms of quality as well as the entire look.
- Even if the car goes through some minor exterior and interior changes, the car engines are most probably going to be the same.
Engine:
Even though the Tiago will receive some changes in terms of looks, it will still come in the same engine option. 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.05-litre petrol engine is to be expected. The only difference will be that the petrol engine will be upgraded with the BS6 emission norms. The car will continue its diesel model by April 2020. The petrol engine gives out a mileage of 23.84kmpl while the diesel gives out 27.28kmpl.
The car is expected to get Sharper and edgier in front and rugged back. The car will also receive a new headlight shape that is inspired by altroz that comes equipped with projector headlamps. Like the JTP version, the car will get A sportier look mostly because of the inwardly tilted mesh grille. At the front, the car will also have larger air vents. A revised fog lamp is also expected as a part of the package. There are no talks of new colours for the new facelift so the car is still expected to available in the same seven shades namely, Berry Red, Ocean Blue, Pearlescent White, Espresso Brown, Titanium Grey, Canyon Orange, Platinum Silver.
Interior wise, the car may receive a revised upholstery, better infotainment system and upgraded features with the newest technology. According to the safety laws, the car will come equipped with dual airbags, ABS with EBD etc. The new features like seatbelt reminder and speed alert system will also be included in this facelift.
The new facelift is scheduled to be launched October 2019 with price ranging from rs. 4-4.3 lakhs. Not a lot has been announced about the new Tiago facelift and tata has managed to keep the upgrade list under wraps. Since the initial success of the Tiago, Tata has high hopes from the facelift. Tata has recently modified the brand and has become one of the well-known brands around the world. Hence, a lot Is expected from tata in terms of quality and technology with the launch of this new facelift.
Tata Tiago facelift is still expected to rival with the Hyundai Santro, Maruti Suzuki celerio and wagonR. Even so, the new Tiago is expected to do well based on its current popularity in the market.
