Know Everything about Tata Altroz before it's launch
Tata Altroz is the first model which is based on the new Alfa-Arc platform.
Tata Motors has taken a step ahead with Altroz by introducing new extensive features.
Tata Motors will be launching the Altroz in January 2020 and the prices will be revealed during the launch.
With Tata Motors renewed it's automotive segment, it was missing out for a premium hatchback. Now with the unveiling of the Altroz, Tata Motors has ticked out another point from it's checklist. The Indian car manufacturer unveiled this premium hatchback some days ago, but it will go on sale from the month of January 2020. Overall if we compare the Altroz with the 45X concept, it is very much similar and identical.
Based on the 45X Concept, the Altroz shares many design features.
Dual tone roof available just like Nexon.
Design is very futuristic and shows the evolution of design in the models launched previously by Tata Motors.
As mentioned above, the overall design and looks of the Altroz is very identical to the 45X concept, on which it is based. When we look at the Altroz, the first thing that comes into notice is that a black sill flows from the window line giving it a floating look, in addition to this, there is an extensive use if glossy black on the tailgate and on the front grille as well. Giving the Altroz the dynamic look and feel is the sharpy concave lines instead of the flat surfaces. Just like the Chevrolet Beat and the New Maruti Suzuki Swift, the door handle on the rear doors are towards the pillar, but making it unique is the catch release style in which the handle doesn't come out. The front fascia shows a lot about Tata's evolution in design and the overall design is very edgy and sharp.
Interior, Features and Modern Technology
Stepping into the cabin, the first thing to take your breath away is the ambient lighting giving it that premium touch. For utmost comfort, Tata has loaded the cabin with automatic climate control and cruise control for those long highway runs. Tata has designed the Altroz in such a way that all the four doors open completely in 90 degrees, thus offering a much comfortable ingress, which by no doubt will be welcomed by all. Coming to the technology part, Tata has loaded the Matrix with a 7 inch floating touchscreen infotainment unit that is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, this infotainment system powers the Harman audio system. What makes the infotainment system a step ahead is the different colour themes. In addition to this, features such as automatic wipers, automatic headlamps, 7 inch digital instrument cluster, push button start are also seen in the Altroz. Making it more fuel efficient is the start-stop system.
Cabin is very roomy and like always Tata Motors is famous in sculpting out space to make the interiors feel more spacious and comfortable. Although the fit and finish in the cabin could have been better giving it a much plush look, like dark interior scheme instead of the scheme which is similar to the exterior paint. Just near the gear knob there are two buttons in which one can change the driving modes - Eco and City. The door gets pockets to store umbrellas which is a very good premium feature like seen on the Skoda Kodiaq. It also gets a well illuminated and cooled glove box and there are a lot of storage spaces in the cabin as well. Saying that the cabin is very roomy, same can be seen in the boot space as well, it gets a 345 litre storage which is not the largest in the segment but it does serve the purpose perfectly. The seats feels very comfortable both at the front and rear and the top variants come loaded with rear AC vents as well.
Tata Motors is also providing a wearable activity key band as well. Taking a step ahead, the India car Manufacturer is also offering customisation packages with every variant, right from the factory. This is a first feature to be introduced by an Indian mass market player.
Engine and Transmission
Both the petrol and Diesel engines comply with the BS6 emission norms and they are offered in different state of tune.
The Tata Altroz will come only coupled with a five speed manual transmission but an AMT unit is expected in the future.
Both the petrol and Diesel models also come with driving modes- Economy and City.
The diesel model Altroz is powered with a 1.5 litre, BS 6 compliant engine that is capable of producing 88 bhp of power and 200Nm of twist. This oil burner is coupled with a five speed manual gearbox.
The petrol model Altroz is powered with a 1.2 litre three cylinder, BS 6 compliant engine. This petrol engine generates 83 bhp of power and 200Nm of twist. Just like the diesel engine even the petrol engine comes coupled with a five speed manual transmission.
Altroz will come in 4 different trim levels
All the four trims will be available with a customisation package straight from the factory.
Four Customisation packages: Rhythm, Luxe, Style and Urban
We at MyNewCar are expecting that Tata Motors could price the Altroz between Rs 5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh (Ex-Showroom, India). With the additional customisation offer, the prices will surely fluctuate as well.
