MPVs are now back in demand and MG Motors wants to cash in on this. At the Auto Expo, MG showed many interesting new products and one of them was the 360M. The 360M is seen as a rival to the likes of the Maruti XL6 and Ertiga. This would be the entry-level MPV from MG for India.
For a start the 360M is fairly big and in-fact is bigger than the Ertiga which would be its direct rival. To look at, the 360M is quite good looking and looks premium with some typcal MG design details like the signature MG grille while the headlamps are nicely spread out. Look at the side and you will not see a boring and boxy design as instead this is more flowing and the roof nicely blends in. It is an MPV no doubt but the wheels plus the nicely designed slim tail-lamps adds to the look.
The interiors are sporty on the car shown here though when it comes to India expect the 360M to be having the dual black and beige colour scheme. The design of the cabin is typically MG with a fairly large touchscreen at the centre plus a sporty looking steering wheel. Unlike the Hector there is no massive portrait touchscreen here but the design is pretty good plus the quality is impressive. There would be all the usual features on offer but with MG there would be even more like the connected technology, smartphone features, electric sunroof, tyre pressure monitoring system etc.
In terms of engines we expect the 360M to come to India with the 1.5 turbo petrol that also powers the Hector and we can also expect the mild-hybrid system on offer too. It remains to be seen whether we will get the 2.0 diesel also. On offer there would be both manual and automatic gearbox options.
There is no doubt that the MPV segment has taken off and the 360M would be at the volume focused part of the segment. MG will no doubt bring this as this would be its most affordable model though next year is when we can expect it to come.
