New Car Launch MG ZS SUV

Overview
In recent times we have seen that the electric vehicle segment has been kick started once again with a good note. Now, MG Motors has also confirmed something amazing as well. In an official statement MG Motors have stated that the ZS EV SUV will be unveiled officially in the month of December 2019. With the introduction of this Electric SUV will mark the second product to be sold by the British car manufacturer in the Indian market. As of now, MG Motors sells the ZS EV in the international market such as Thailand, China and the UK. It is expected that the British car manufacturer will launch this Electric SUV in the early weeks of the year 2020.
As we are now waiting for the official unveiling, this electric SUV has been spotted conducting test runs on the Indian roads. The trail production for the same had been commenced back in the month of June 2019 at MG's Halol plant which is situated in the state of Gujarat. MG Motors will be adopting the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route to keep the cost low. This will help the ZS EV compete well in terms of pricing with the Hyundai Kona Electric.
Specifications, Powertrain and Driving Range
Let's have a look at the on paper technical specifications, shall we? In accordance with the dimensions, the ZS EV measures 4314mm in length, it is wide by 1809mm and has a height if 1620mm. Under the hood is 150 horsepower electric motor that is powered by a 44.5 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack. On the WLTO cycle, the MG ZS EV has a range of 262 km in a single charge, whereas in the NEDC cycle a range of 335km can be met. Looking at the charging time, if a 7kW AC charger is used, it will take about 7 hours to charge the vehicle. On the other hand, with a 50kW fast DC charger, the MG ZS EV can be charged in 40 minutes from 0% to 80%.
The main issue with the electric vehicle segment is the range and also the infrastructure to charge them. Hence MG is working to ensure that viable charging spots to be developed at the MG Motors dealerships. In addition to this, MG Motors is also taking a step ahead by installation charging infrastructure at prospective customers homes. MG Motors has stopped here, they have gone ahead and tied up with Delhi based startup eChageBays to assist their customers for last mile assistance for EV charging.
Expected Prices and Launch Dates
With the introduction of the ZS EV in the early weeks of 2020, it will be sold only in five cities- Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR and Ahmedabad.we at MyNewCar expect that MG Motors may launch the ZS EV in range of Rs 22lakh (Ex-Showroom, Delhi) price bracket. As of now, the electric vehicle segment in the Indian market hasn't developed yet.
