NEW CAR LAUNCH : Hyundai Creta 2020

The Hyundai Creta has been one of the best sellers from Hyundai. It has been consistently clocking sales in the range of 8k to 10k units a month, a total of 4.67 lakh units since its launch on 22nd July 2015. Now Creta faces a significant challenge as it has been dethroned by its rival, the Kia Seltos. To regain that spot the brand is ready to launch the new Creta which was unveiled at the Delhi Auto Expo 2020. The SUV is based on the Hyundai ix25 that was revealed in China last year. The new Creta gets an all new design, new features and all new BS VI engine. It must be noted that the new Creta has already crossed 14000 bookings even before its launch, 50% of which are for BS VI engines.
DESIGN
The all new Hyundai Creta gets a new 3D cascading front grill flanked by sharp trio beam LED headlamps and split LED DRLs. It gets a new bumper and floating roof design. The Creta sits on stylish 17-inch diamond cut alloys. The rear gets LED taillamps and boomerang styled LED DRLs. The flared wheel arches and strong crease lines on the bonnet gives the Creta a muscular look.
FEATURES
The 2020 Creta is equipped with a host of features to challenge its rival. It gets a 10.25-inch infotainment touch screen with Android auto and Apple car play and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. Similar to the Seltos the Creta is equipped with BlueLink technology which has more than 50 connected car features. Other features include panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, BOSE 8 speaker music system, remote engine start, air purifier, ventilated seats, electric parking brakes, smartwatch app connectivity, cooled glove box, wireless phone charger, auto unfold ORVMs, rear view monitor, twin tip exhaust, roof rails and TPMS.
SAFETY
The safety features offered on the Creta include 6 airbags (on SX(O) variant), ABS with EBD, hill start assist, hill descent control, VSM, rear parking camera with sensors, ISOFIX child seat anchors, speed alert, front seatbelt reminder and pretensioner and auto door lock.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
There are 3 different engine options on the new Creta 2020. All are BS6 compliant. First, there is a 1.4 litre turbo GDI petrol engine with 140 PS and 242 Nm output. It is mated to a 7 speed DCT. The second
petrol engine is the 1.5 litre MPi unit with 115 PS and 144 Nm output. The transmission options include a 6 speed Manual and an IVT. The petrol engines have a claimed mileage of 16.8 kmpl and 16.9 kmpl respectively. The lone diesel engine is the 1.5 litre U2 diesel engine with 115 PS and 250 Nm output and is offered with a 6 speed MT and 6 speed AVT. The diesel engine returns mileage of 21.4 kmpl in the manual version and 18.5 kmpl in the automatic version. There are multiple driving modes on offer- Eco, Comfort and Sport along with 3 traction control modes- Snow, Sand and Mud.
COLOUR
The new Creta is available in 8 single tone and 2 dual tone paint schemes. The single tone shades include Polar White, Typhoon Silver, Deep Forest, Phantom Black, Titan Grey, Lava Orange, Red Mulberry and Galaxy Blue. There are also 2 dual tone options: Polar White with Phantom Black and Lava Orange with Phantom Black.
VARIANTS AND PRICES
The new Creta is offered in 5 variants: E, EX, S, SX and SX (O). Hyundai is expected to price the all new Creta aggressively to beat its major rival, the Kia Seltos. Its other competitors are the Renault Captur and Nissan Kicks. The New Creta has been launched at introductory price between Rs 9.99 Lakh to Rs 17.20 Lakh. It also rivals some of the lower variants of Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and Mahindra XUV 500.
