As we complete the first half of 2019, we have seen many changes happening in the automotive sector in the nation. With this, the month of June has been quite amazing as we see the entry of a whole new brand ready to take over the Indian automotive scene.
Along with this, we also see the entry of a new electric vehicle from an Indian manufacturer for the masses and also some new upgrades to the existing cars in the Indian automotive scene. So let's take a look at the new cars that have been launched in the month of June for the year 2019.
Tata Tigor EV
With the electric vehicle segment taking a good hold in the Indian market, Tata Motors has launched the Tigor EV at Rs 9.99 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Delhi). Before it was only made available for the government sector. The price tag mentioned above is implied after the application of the Fame II incentive and financial benefits.
Tata Motors has developed the Tigor EV on the XT and the XM variants of the fossil-fueled powered Tigor compact sedan. As of now, the Indian manufacturer will be retailing the Tigor EV only to the fleet owners and the commercial operators.
The Tigor EV will be available in three paint schemes, namely white, silver and blue. Both the XT and the XM variants of the Tigor EV will be equipped with front dual airbags and ABS with EBD as standard.
The rest of the features, layout and the exterior and interior design on these two variants will be similar to the ones available on the fossil fuel version of the Tigor.
Under the hood of the Tigor EV will be a 72V three-phase induction motors which give an output of 30kW and 105Nm of twist. With a regular charging system, it will take about six hours to completely charge up the batteries. If one uses a 15kW fast charger, 80% of the battery can be charged in just 90 minutes.

MG Motors Hector
Finally, after a long wait and all the teasing, MG Motors has stepped into the Indian automotive market for the first time. This is being one with the launch of the Hector and it has been offered with a price tag starting from Rs 12.18 lakh (Ex-Showroom, India).
The British car manufacturer is offering this SUV in 1 different trim levels along with three different engine options to choose from.
MG Motors if offering the top trim level of the Hector with a host of modern features such as a 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 7.0-inch Multi-Information Display, leather upholstery.
Electrically adjustable driver's seat, hill hold assist hill descent assist, a 360-degree view parking system and heated ORVM’s. In addition to this, the MG Hector is the first internet car in the Indian market which offers a lot of unique connected services which is known as iSMART technology.
As mentioned above, MG Motors is offering the Hector with three engine options to choose from. First is the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol motors that will be mated with six-speed manual transmission and a DCT gearbox as an option to choose from.
The second option os 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel mill that will only be coupled with a six-speed manual transmission and will miss out on an automatic option. The third one being a hybrid option wherein a 48V motor will be mated to the 1.5-litre petrol unit and it will be available with a six-speed manual transmission.
This hybrid engine option gets features such as engine start and stops function and brake energy regeneration and with the help of the electric motor, it also helps in producing more 20Nm of torque than the regular petrol engine.
With the launch of the Hector, it will now compete with the Jeep Compass, Tata Hexa, Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra XUV 500 and the Hyundai Tucson in the Indian market. With this, MG Motors has also confirmed that by the month of December 2019, they will be launching their second product. This will be an electric SUV which will be known as the E-ZS.

Jeep Compass Trail Hawk
A lot has been spoken about the Jeep Compass Trailhawk edition after it was showcased last year. Although this variant has been launched in other countries quite some time ago, the Indian market gets it now.
Jeep has finally launched the Compass Trailhawk edition in India and it has been offered with a price tag of Rs 26.8 lakh (Ex-Showroom, India).
As the name suggests, this model is true to Jeep iconic trailhawk batch and comes with loads of off-road concentrated features. In short, the Compass Trailhawk edition is the off-road version of the regular Compass, but it comes loaded with higher ground clearance, automatic transmission for its diesel mill and it also gets Jeep’s Active Drive 4X4 technology as well.
In addition to this, it also gets higher which will help in deep water wading, all-weather mats, skid plates on the front and rear and all-weather chunky tyres.
On the exterior, the Jeep has offered this variant with a few cosmetic changes that include black decals of the engine hood, gunmetal chrome finish front grille. Roof and the wing mirrors. Whereas on the rear, it features a red two hooks which are seen in all of the trailhawk edition models from Jeep.
The cabin, on the other hand, gets all black interiors along with red accents all over. In addition to this, it also gets red contrast stitching and it also bears the Trail Hawk batching on the seats.
Under the hood of the Compass Trailhawk is a BS-6 compliant 2.0-litre oil burner that can generate 170 bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. For the first, Jeep is also launching an automatic transmission for the compass as this model only comes matted to the nine-speed automatic gearbox.

2019 Isuzu D-Max V-Cross
Isuzu has updated its Indian line up with the launch of the new D-Max V-Cross which has been launched at a starting price of Rs 15.51 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Mumbai). With this, the 2019 D-Max V-Cross will be available in two trim levels- Standard and High-Grade.
The new updates offered for this pickup truck is a fresh new face with a newly designed front grille and some design updates as well. In addition to the existing paint schemes which includes ruby red, titanium silver, obsidian grey, cosmic black and splash white, Isuzu now offers two new colour options, namely- sapphire blue and silky pearl white.
According to Isuzu, the 2019 D-Max V-Cross has taken inspiration from the “Cyborg Orca” which can be clearly seen with the new design front grille and the Bi-LED headlamp unit.
Coming to the side profile, there aren’t any major upgrades done but now this picks up truck runs on 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. For better access to the cabin, it gets new designed side step function and also the B-pillar is blacked out to give it a better appeal.
Moving towards the rear, we get to know that it gets a fresh new look with the new design chrome bumper and embedded LED tail light unit.
Stepping into the cabin, the interior now gets an all-black theme with newly contoured seats. This helps to provide better comfort for the passengers in comparison with the outdated model.
On the other hand, the top end trim level (High-Grade Z ) comes with leather seats. The instrument cluster has also been upgraded as it now gets a new 3D Design Electroluminescent meter and gear shift indicator.
The dashboard is offered with a piano black finish and it also gets passive entry start and stops function as well. The second row on the other hand now gets USB charging.
The safety kit on the 2019 Isuzu D-Max V-Cross consists of safety features such as front dual airbags, ABS with EBD, sp0eed sensitive auto door lock, seat belt warning system for the front occupants, seat belt pre-tensioners and load limiter, hill start assists and hill descent control.
Isuzu continues to power this pick up truck with a BS-4 compliant 2.5-litre diesel mill that generates 134 bhp of power and 320 Nm of twist. In addition to this, Isuzu offers the V-Cross off-roading features such as 4WD mode, high ride suspension, wide track and long wheelbase.
The chassis frame is designed and developed with Isuzu’s iGRIP tech which according to them offers better stability at higher speeds and during sharp curves.
