Volkswagen T-ROC launched at Rs 19.99 Lakhs
At the recently held 2020 Auto Expo, Volkswagen had showcased the T-Roc in their stand. Just a few days ago the German car manufacturer launched the T-Roc in the Indian market at an introductory price tag of Rs 19.99 lakh (Ex-Showroom-India). The Volkswagen T-Roc is only available in a single top of the line variant and it is being brought on to the Indian soil via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route.
Due to which there will be limited units of the Volkswagen T-Roc up for grab and hence the pre booking for it kick started even before it was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. With the launch and introduction of these new cars by Volkswagen, it clearly indicates that the German car manufacturer is targeting the young customers.
Design
When you just have a first glance of the Volkswagen T-Roc, it gives you a distinctive feel of being macho with the broad shoulders and the large wheel arches. The interesting element added here is of the sportiness with the sloping rear windscreen. Volkswagen has built the T-Roc on the MQB platform, hence it promises good driving dynamics. The T-Roc measures 4229 mm in length and it is also offered with a wheelbase measuring 2595mm due to which it offers a roomier cabin space.
In terms of features on the exterior, the Volkswagen T-Roc is loaded with rectangular LED DRL’s that sit below the full LED projector headlight setup, LED tail lamps at the rear, it also gets a panoramic sunroof and dual tone alloy wheels to give it a distinctive look. In addition to this, the German car manufacturer is offering five dual tone paint schemes - Curcuma Yellow, Energetic Orange, Indium Grey, Ravenna Blue and Pure White that goes along with a blac roof on top. It will also come with an option for a Deep Black Pearl exterior finish.
Interior
Moving inside the cabin, the features are exhaustive as seen on the exterior due to the availability of a single top of the line variant. The dashboard gets a very conventional design and it also comes with many coloured inserts to boost up the look and feel of the cabin. Coming towards the boot, Volkswagen has offered the T-Roc with a capacity of 445 litres which gives a tough competition to its rivals.
For utmost comfort the T-Roc gets ‘Vienna’ leather seats, dual zone automatic climate control and a panoramic sunroof. In addition to this, the T-Roc is equipped with modern features and elements such as a Virtual Cockpit, a digital instrument cluster, an eight inch touchscreen infotainment unit that is compatible with Android Auto and Apple Carplay.
PowerTrain and Performance
Being a CBU unit and limited models to be sold, Volkswagen has introduced just a single engine option for the T-Roc in the Indian market. Under the hood is a 1.5-litre TSI EVO petrol engine which is tuned and capable of generating 147 bhp of power and 250 Nm of torque. This petrol engine is matted with a seven speed DSG automatic gearbox.
When it comes to performance numbers, the Volkswagen T-Roc can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.4 seconds and it can achieve a top speed of 205 kmph.
Safety Features
Coming to the safety kit, along with the standard mandatory safety features as per the government norms, Volkswagen has loaded the T-Roc with additional safety features such as six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, Tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and a parking camera.
Rivals and Conclusion
With the launch of the Volkswagen T-Roc in the Indian market, it has locked its horns with the Jeep Compass and the upcoming Skoda Karoq whose pre bookings have been kick started. The introductory price tag offered on the T-Roc helps it to sit below the Tiguan Allspace which will most probably change once Taigun makes its entry.
