MARUTI-SUZUKI CELERIO DRIVING
The engine is the 998cc 3-cylinder K10B engine. At start, it has an impressive silence and if you rev this engine up, the typical 3-cylinder whine is heard. However, the engine has a flat torque delivery and the Drive-By-Wire system compensates for this by acting as a torque booster. The EZ drive AGS system eases the driving experience to the greatest extent. It eliminates the need of clutch while changing gears. On highways, the ride is smooth. But in urban driving, the shift quality is not that good and you can feel the clutch being actuated with change in speeds. But above all, the Celerio's AMT technology gives the boost for the easy and stress free drives.
Now, onto ride and handling. Ride quality is good and has impressive stability at high speeds. However, the EPS doesn't give feedback when it is most needed. But above all, the steering is light and precise to go through crowded streets.
MARUTI-SUZUKI CELERIO ENGINE
The Celerio is powered by the 998cc K10B engine, also called K-Next. This 3 cylinder and 12 valve engine gives a power of 67.05bhp at 6000rpm and torque of 90Nm at 3500rpm. This engine has a fuel efficiency of 23.1km/litre. The 5-speed manual transmission is the regular here, what's more exciting is Maruti Suzuki's new technological innovation- EZ drive technology which is an automated manual transmission. This technology eliminated the need to press clutch or change gears to gain speed. Here, an electrical control unit (ECU) drives a hydraulic actuator which does the required work. To enhance the engine torque and make boring driving even more exciting, there is a drive-by-wire technology which gives better drive response and aids in fuel efficiency. Also, VXI variant gets a CNG option.
MARUTI-SUZUKI CELERIO SAFETY
The Celerio has many safety features as standard across all variants. These include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, headlamp leveller, immobilizer and rear door child-proof locks. The ZXI variant get rear window wiper and washer. McPherson strut with coil spring suspension in front and Coupled torsion beam axle with coil spring suspension in rear provide stability. Braking is done by ventilated disc brakes in front and drum brakes in rear.
MARUTI-SUZUKI CELERIO MAINTENANCE
Let us say that the car is driven for 1000km a month i.e. 12,000km yearly. So, the cost of ownership for Maruti Suzuki Celerio can come upto Rs. 51,336 for one year, which includes Rs.13,300 of insurance cost, Rs. 1,236 of maintenance cost and Rs. 36,800 of fuel cost. Here the loan interest is not factored in as it depends on person to person and the percentage of amount taken in loan.
MARUTI-SUZUKI CELERIO RIVALS
The Maruti Suzuki Celerio is up against Hyundai EON, Renault Kwid, Tata Tiago, Honda Brio, Chevrolet Beat and Nissan Micra Active. The Celerio has already got many awards and happy, smiling customers as well. Will it continue this streak or get beaten down by its rivals. The future sales will have the final decision.
