With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown in effect, the 2020 Thar which was all set to be introduced in April will make its launch in august 2020. How will it look like?
The new Mahindra Thar will be closely related to and build on the same platform as the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio. The car will feature a more contemporary look with lightweight yet robust architecture. The 2020 Mahindra Thar will feature a wide and flat bonnet with round-shaped headlamps. The front will also include fog lamps. The back of the car will include rectangular, brick shaped tail lamps. The SUV will also receive 18-inch alloy wheels and will also feature full soft or hard roof configuration.
The interior of the car will receive new upholstery with premium leather. The car will also receive an infotainment system and auto climate control for the top variant. The backseats now feature a front facing seating position which is much more safe and comfortable. The safety feature will include, dual front airbags, rear parking sensor and speed alert system.
Engine Options
The new Thar will get Scorpio sourced 2.2 liter diesel engine producing 140 hp power and 320nm of torque mated to either manual or automatic transmission. Another engine to power the Thar will be 2.0 liter petrol that will produce 187hp and 380 nm of torque. The petrol engine will be equipped with a 6-speed manual and automatic. The car may also receive a 1.5 liter, 4-cylinder petrol engine that was showcased in auto expo 2020. The engine produces 165 PS and a peak torque of 280 Nm and may come mated to 6-speed MT/AT. The diesel will receive a 4WD while petrol is expected to receive 2WD.
