Mahindra Marazzo to see a new BS6 variant this 2020
Marazzo has been a flagship model for Mahindra for some time now. Marazzo is an MPV which differs a lot from the MUV we have seen so far. MUVs are all about capacity and load and a lot less about performance. An MPV gives preference to its performance. These cars resemble SUVs more than it does to normal load-oriented utility vehicles. Marazzo has been trusted due to its performance, style and appearance. This is one of the major plus in a market that is currently dominated by the bold, strong and rugged SUVs while also providing enough space for all.
Marazzo to skip its top-spec M8 variant for BS6.
Marazzo will be offered with two new variants instead namely, M4+ and M6+.
M6+ will be the top-spec model.
The car will have the same 1.5 liter diesel engine with slightly less output.
The BS6 compliance will become mandatory for car sales after April 2020. To gear up for the coming challenge, a lot of companies have come up with the BS6 compliant version of already existing cars. The diesel BS6 is expected to rise by Rs. 1 lakh at least. Keeping that in mind, the car that is already priced between Rs. 9.99-14.77 lakhs is expected to rise in cost even further.
To add the value back to the car and to offer the newest tech, Mahindra has decided to skip its top-spec variant M8 altogether and will be providing two more variants M4+ and M6+ instead. M6+ will be the top spec variant of BS6 Marazzo and will be offered with new features and some old features from M8 as well. All variants of BS6 Marazzo will be available as seven and eight seaters.
The BS6 compliant Marazzo will still retain its 1.5 liter diesel engine that will come mated with selective catalytic reduction system and a rear-mounted urea tank to help reduce NOx emissions along with diesel particulate filter. The car will have a power output of 100bhp in eco mode and 123bhp in power mode. The car will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
In India, Marazzo faces a huge competition from Ertiga and Innova Crysta. After the BS6 rule, the Ertiga will only be available with BS6 petrol version while the costs of Innova will push it out of the group. Hence, it is believed that the new version of Marazzo will be doing well in 2020.
