2021 New Toyota Fortuner & Legender Launch: Which is Better?
2021 New Toyota Fortuner & Legender Launched in India - Check Design, Features, and Price Updates
Toyota has launched the new Fortuner in India with a starting price of just under Rs 30 lakh. This is an update to the Fortuner and carries many significant changes. The new Fortuner also gets the Legender variant launched in India which gets more aggressive styling and some other updates. So which is better, Fortuner or Legender, here is a quick look.
The new Fortuner and Legender have a different look though both have the same headlamps with the new updated styling. The Legender gets a sportier look with an all-black grille and further a new front bumper which is bigger along with a different-looking fog-lamp enclosure. It is sharper and the all-black look is carried onto the dual-tone exterior. It also gets new alloys. The regular Fortuner does not get the Bipper bumper but gets a bigger grille with a chrome outline and a silver skid plate. The design of that is similar to the current Fortuner. At the rear both get new tail-lamps.
Interior and Features
The basic design has remained the same but there are key changes to the interior features list in both. There is now a larger 8inch touch screen that finally gets Android Auto and Apple CarPlay while even getting connected technology. There is a new instrument cluster also while luxury features like an 8-way adjustable and ventilated front seats are included. There is ambient lighting, 11-speaker JBL audio, front and rear sensors, 360-degree camera. The interior also has two colours on offer. The Legender variant adds in extra features like a wireless charger, powered boot release, and more.
The 2.7 litre petrol remains the same while the big news is the new 2.8l diesel engine. It makes more power now at 204 hhp and 420Nm with the manual while the Fortuner automatic gets 500Nm of torque. The Fortuner can be had with petrol in 4x2 only while the diesel gets 4x4. However, the Legender gets only the 4x2 with the automatic in diesel.
Prices have increased when compared to the old Fortuner with near Rs 3 lakh in some cases. The new Fortuner range starts at Rs 30 lakh for the starting petrol to Rs 37.5 lakh for the Legender diesel AT. The standard 4x4 diesel AT Fortuner is Rs 37.4 lakh. The Legender is Rs 3 lakh more over the standard 4x2 diesel while it is also more expensive over the 4x4 AT standard Fortuner. The Legender is the sportier-looking one but the standard Fortuner makes more sense buying value-wise for having a 4x4 option.
