MG Hector Plus vs Maruti XL6 vs Mahindra Marazzo - COMPARE
MG Hector Plus vs Maruti XL6 vs Mahindra Marazzo - Specs, Features, Price, Performance Comparison Details
If you want a three row car with luxury, comfort and features, what should you buy? Some time back you had to spend a lot and get an Innova. However when the Ertiga came, it gave a choice at a cheaper price. Then Mahindra entered with the Marazzo while Maruti launched a more luxurious version in form of the XL6. However, recently MG Motor did something unique in combining an SUV with an MPV with three row seating. The result is the Hector Plus. So how does the Hector Plus compete with MPVs? We tell you.
MG HECTOR PLUS
All three are not far apart but the XL6 is clearly the smallest of the trio. It is the smallest in terms of length, width and height. However between the Hector Plus and Marazzo the competition is more close. The Hector Plus is longer but the Marazzo is wider and has more height.
In terms of looks the Hector Plus is the most appealing and looks premium. It is obviously having an SUV look and you cannot ignore the massive grille and the headlamps plus the size. The Marazzo is nice to look at but looks like an MPV- however one that is nicely designed. The shape is nice and rugged with good design details. The XL6 looks different and more premium from the Ertiga while the cladding helps however the small tyres rob it some premiumness.
INTERIOR AND SPACE
MG HECTOR PLUS
MARUTI XL6 REAR SEATS
Cars with three row seating are all about space and practicality. The Hector Plus has a wheelbase of 2750mm while the XL6 has a wheelbase of 2740mm with the Marazzo coming in at 2760mm. However all three have got a proper third row seat though MG says it is a 6-seater with third row for occasional use or for children. This way the XL6 has an easier access into the third row and also the Marazzo has the best third row in terms of space. Hector Plus is decent too but the other proper MPVs score.
Where the Hector Plus scores is the quality of the cabin and features. There is no competition. Yes the Maruti with its all black cabin is premium but even the Mahindra looks good, the Hector Plus just feels on a new league. The tan leather, the huge touchscreen and details like the huge panoramic sunroof to the iSmart feature along with the technology makes it go apart from the others. Yes the Mahindra and Maruti offer you a touchscreen and all the usual stuff, the Hector has more. All three have enough goodies for the second row while luggage space is also nice in all.
The Marazzo has only one diesel engine which is a 1.5l diesel which offers 123 bhp and 300Nm. There is a 6-speed manual on offer. The Xl6 has a 1.5l petrol with 103 bhp and gets both a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic. The Hector Plus is a lot more powerful with either a 170 bhp 2.0 diesel or a 143 bhp 1.5l turbo petrol. The turbo petrol in the Hector Plus also offers a 48-V mild hybrid while even the Maruti offers one. The diesel only gets a 6-speed manual while the petrol either gets a 6-speed DCT auto or a 6-speed manual. In terms of mileage the Mahindra gives 17.33 kmpl while the Maruti gives 17.9 kmpl (AT) to 19.01 kmpl (MT). The Hector Plus gives 16.6 kmpl in diesel manual form while the DCT petrol gives 11.67 kmpl.
The Hector Plus starts from Rs 13.7 lakh and goes till Rs 18.7 lakh for the top-end. The Marazzo starts at Rs 11.2 lakh and goes till Rs 13.5 lakh for the top-end. The XL6 is the cheapest and starts at Rs 9.8 lakh and goes till Rs 11.5 lakh. The Maruti is the most efficient and cheapest, perfect for those who want a budget premium MPV. However if you want diesel the Mahindra is the one you should consider considering it is rugged and offers space plus an efficient diesel. However it lacks a premium touch which the Hector Plus gives. It is the most premium, best looking and also the best value. It is our choice here.
