India The 2017 Suzuki Swift has been unveiled in Japan and we are waiting eagerly for its launch in the Indian market. But Maruti-Suzuki have said that the new swift will launch in India somewhere around the mid of 2018. This means that the car will first launch at the 2018 Auto Expo.

In Japan Suzuki has launched the Swift Hybrid with two variants – SG and SL. these variants are not mild hybrids (SHVS) as it was shown at the global unveil. It is a proper hybrid and the automaker claims a mileage of 32 Kmpl in the Japanese cycle.

Powering the Swift Hybrid is a 1.2 litre petrol engine that produces a power of 89bhp and it is matted with a 10KW electric motor generator which sends power to the front wheels. The hybrid variants are paired with a 5-speed AMT gearbox. The Swift Hybrid SL variant comes with paddle shifters and the car is also loaded on safety tech like Suzuki’s Dual Camera Brake Support which uses lasers and cameras to help detect pedestrians.

For India the new gen Swift is an important product and it will make its debut in the 2018 Auto Expo. In India the Swift will be powered with 1.2 litre petrol and 1.3 litre diesel engine, which will be coupled manual and automatic gearbox units. According to the ARAI figures of the new gen Dzire we can assume that the Swift can return a mileage of 28 kmpl.

As the GST norms have applied in India, the hybrid cars will be charged 43% tax, hence the Maruti has refrained from getting the hybrid variants in the Indian market. The prices of the Ciaz and Ertiga which gets the SHVS mild-hybrid is become more expensive by Rs 1 Lakh after GST.
