British tabloid Daily Mail has launched an interesting rumor about Jenson Button co-hosting Top Gear alongside Chris Evans.
Top Gear as we all know it came to an end on March 25 when BBC announced Jeremy Clarkson’s exit from the popular car show and shortly after that colleagues and friends James May and Richard Hammond said they won’t do TG without Jezza.
BBC acted quickly and hired Chris Evans who will run the show from next year together with co-hosts set to be selected after a series of auditions where everyone is invited. It seems Formula 1 driver Jenson Button has expressed his interest in co-hosting the show and it appears he is pole position to get the job, with a source close to BBC cited by Daily Mail saying an official announcement is imminent.
Interestingly, the same person says “Classic Car Show” presenter Jodie Kidd also has chances of joining the show so next year’s Top Gear trio could consist of Chris Evans, Jenson Button and Jodie Kidd.
As a final note, we’d recommend taking this rumor with a pinch of salt as Jenson Button hasn’t expressed his intentions of retiring from Formula 1. He said an announcement regarding his plans for 2016 will be made in a couple of months.
