The high-performance Mercedes-Benz AMG GT that has been caught on camera appears to be the
road-going version of the AMG GT3.
This new variant of the AMG GT looks more aggressive than the AMG GT S. It also gets a new front bumper and a front splitter. Moving back, we find a prominent rear wing and a unique rear end with an prominent diffuser and a center-mounted exhaust system. The model also features five-spoke alloy wheels, backed up by a powerful braking system with golden calipers.
Mercedes has not disclosed specifications of the high-performance AMG GT, but AMG CEO Tobias Moers has said that the car is already about 80kg less than the SLS AMG and has a similar power-to weight ratio but this is expected to change as the model is developed further with the final product expected to be about 100kg lighter than the AMG GT S.
Under the bonnet, the new model is expected to get a more powerful version of the 4.0-litre twin-turbo AMG V8 with expected output to be around the 600bhp mark. The high-performance AMG GT is expected to neither wear the GT3 nor the Black Series badge. The new model is expected to go head to head with the Porsche 911 GT3 when it enters production.
