Fiat has confirmed that the Linea will be showcased soon. The company announced that the next-gen Linea will make its global debut at the Istanbul Motor Show on the 21st of May.
The new Linea will be based on the Small-Wide architecture and it’ll probably come with the same powertrains when it comes to India. The car, according to the people at Fiat, is set to launch not only in Turkey, but also the Middle East and other Asian markets.
We currently have the pre-facelift Linea (called the Linea Classic) and the facelift model of the car on sale in India. It’s likely that the next generation will take time to come to India but considering that the company needs a boost in sales here, the launch could happen sooner than expected. Currently, with all three cars in their portfolio, the number of Fiat cars sold per month doesn’t even touch 1000 units.
Fiat India is in dire need of a volume seller and though we know that a more powerful Punto Evo is on its way, it will be priced to cater to a niche audience and cannot become the car Fiat depends on to drive sales.
