Volkswagen India had discounted the previous gen Passat in the year 2014 in the Indian Market. Volkswagen has now announced that it will soon launch the new Passat sedan in India. The current model model Passat is in its 8th generation and it Volkswagen has already started its production in their Aurangabad facility. 

The upcoming Passat from Volkswagen will the first sedan to be produced under the MQB platform. Under this platform cars such as VW Tiguan, Skoda Octavia , Skoda Superb and the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq are built.

Powering the new VW Passat will be a 2.0 litre TDI diesel engine which is capable of producing 177bhp of power. This engine will be coupled with a DSG automatic gearbox and the exact specifications will be disclosed later.

In the Indian market the VW Passat from Volkswagen will compete head on with the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry and its sisters company Skoda Superb.
