Mahindra revealed its fourth compact SUV, codenamed the S201
It will be called XUV300, following Mahindra’s naming nomenclature. The Compact SUV will share its design language with the XUV500 and will be launched by the first half of 2019. The car shares its platform - x100 with the SsangYong Tivoli sold elsewhere. The design inspiration is taken from the animal Cheetah and the rear haunches and headlights that are interconnected with the fog lamps reflect those.
The engine specifications of the XUV300 are still unknown but it is reported to have both a petrol and a diesel engine with best in class torque figures. Upon launch, the car will only be available with a manual transmission as the automatic will follow later. An all-electric version will be also come later, codenamed XUV300 EV.
As for the features, it will come with class-leading features like dual-zone climate control, seven airbags, all round disc brakes, sunroof and a large touchscreen infotainment system. Top-end variants will have HID headlamps with LED DRLs, LED tail-lamps and 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Mahindra also claims that the XUV300 will exceed all the safety regulations in India, the Marazzo recently scored a 4-star rating while Mahindra is still yet to crack the 5-star mark.
The SUV will be built at the Mahindra plant in Nashik, but there are some rumours about Mahindra’s new World of SUVs outlets and that this upcoming SUV will be sold through those. Pricing will also only be revealed after the official launch, but the car will be competitively priced to tackle its much-established rivals, mainly the Ford Ecosport, Tata Nexon and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
Datsun Redigo will receive a major update in the upcoming days
Datsun Redigo will receive a major update in the upcoming days. The Redigo is available in the Indian market since 2016 but hasn’t received any major updates so far, except for some minor revisions.
The Redigo will receive updates which will be in tune with the recently updated Datsun Go series. The update will see changes to both the exteriors and the interior to make the Redigo more competitive for the market and the upcoming year.
The facelift is expected to include exterior changes and a more upmarket cabin. Top-end variants may get external features like LED DRLs, alloy wheels and a rear wash/wipe. The interior of the refreshed Redigo may get a new dashboard and the top-spec variant will also come with a new infotainment system. The most important update, however, will be in terms of safety as the regulations and safety norms in India are becoming stringent affecting the survival of small cars.
The existing Redigo is not equipped to meet the upcoming safety norms due in April next year. The current model gets a single driver’s side airbag but does not come with ABS. The facelift is also expected to come with rear parking sensors, a speed warning system, seatbelt reminders and even an improved body shell.

McLaren revives Ayrton Senna's MP4/4 livery for P1 GTR
MSO (McLaren Special Operations) has revived the racing legend Ayrton Senna’s MP4/4 F1 racecar livery for a very special customer and nicknamed it ‘Beco’ after Ayrton Senna’s pet name.
Ayrton Senna is worshipped by many as the greatest racing driver of his era who unfortunately left too early before he could reach the heights of his career. Senna was often remarked as the king of wet and his raw skill along with his impeccable car control is still to this day considered unmatched. He has three Formula 1 drivers' titles to his name with the first win using the McLaren Mp4/4.
The P1 GTR adorns the same iconic Marlboro livery from the racecar and was created over a period of three years for a McLaren collector. The livery isn’t the only bit that is a nod to Senna, as there are decals of Brazil’s national flag and Senna badging on the doors and other parts along with the winning race-car number 12 on its nose. The carbon fibre MonoCage chassis also has one of Senna’s greatest quotes. ‘I’m not designed to finished 2nd or 3rd… I am designed to win.'
The Honda-powered MP4/4 is one of the most successful racecars which was envisioned by Gordon Murray who was also behind the legendary McLaren F1. The car also holds the record as the most dominant single-season car with a winning percentage of 93.8%.
The P1 GTR is the track only version of the hybrid hypercar P1. It was built to celebrate 20 years since the McLaren F1 won the 1995 Le Mans 24 Hours using an F1 GTR. The weight is down by 50kgs and the car costs a whopping £1.9 million ($2.4 million). This is the 12th car out of the 58 in existence and it boasts some changes to the aero that boosts downforce from 600kg to nearly 800kg.
The seats are carried over from the Senna and the engine bay has a 24-carat heat shield and new shrouds. Mechanically, the car is similar, although there is a subtle boost in power over the standard 968 Hp. Ansar Ali, Managing Director of McLaren Special Operations said it is ‘great to have the opportunity to pay tribute to our brand’s wonderful history, especially with this year marking the 30th anniversary of Ayrton Senna’s first Formula 1 world championship title with McLaren.’
