Some months ago, at the 2018 Auto Expo which was held in the nation's capital, Mini had showcased the 2018 Mini Countryman. Finally, after it was unveiled in the month of february, the Mini Countryman has launched in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 34.90 lakh (Ex-Showroom, India).
The Mini Countryman will be available in three trims options such as the Countryman Cooper S, Countryman Cooper SD and the Countryman S JCW Inspired in India. It is good to know that the Mini Countryman will be locally assembled in its company facility which is located in South of India Chennai.
Aesthetically, Countryman now is offered with Mini’s new signature LED headlight unit and in between them is a redesigned front engine grille. Moving towards the rear of the Mini Countryman, continues to be offered with a rectangular tail lamp unit and it also holds the a large chrome badging. Other variants except the JCW Inspired version gets 17 inch alloy wheels, while the JCW Inspired version runs on 18-inch alloy wheels. Well, we all love the British green shade that Mini offers and the JCW Inspired Edition gets optional white roof, ORVM caps and hood stripes along with it. In addition to this, to give the JCW Inspired version a more sportier look, Mini has offered this trim with a rear spoiler.
Stepping inside, the standard features offered in the 2018 Mini Countryman are the black interiors,touchscreen infotainment system which chrome surrounding and for better accessibility it has steering mounted controls on it. For better comfort, it also gets two zone climate control and orange backlight. The JCW Inspired version gets a sporty steering wheel along with a heads up display supported by Harman Kardon system. It also comes equipped with wireless charging and stainless steel covers on the pedals.
Let's pop up the hood and have a look what powers the Mini Countryman, shall we? The Mini Countryman S and the Countryman JCW Inspired version is powered with a 2.0 litre four-cylinder engine. This mill is now coupled with an eight speed automatic transmission and it produces 192bhp of power and 280Nm of twist. While the Mini Countryman SD trim is powered with a 2.0 litre four cylinder twin turbo engine. Even this mill is mated with an eight speed automatic gearbox but it produces 190bhp of power and 400Nm of torque. Like we saw that predecessor would get the six speed automatic gearbox, the 2018 version now gets the eight speed automatic transmission.
