At the 14th Auto Expo which is being held at the nation's capital, Toyota showcased its much awaited Yaris. The Toyota Yaris will be launched sometime later this year.
This sedan is based on its Yaris hatchback model, Aesthetically, the Yaris gets a dynamic design which also gets some Etios type looks. Speaking of the front end, the Yaris gets a pointy nose and a large grille splashed with black shade. The headlight unit gets projector lamps with integrated Daytime Running Lights. At the rear, the design takes inspiration from its elder sibling the Corolla Altis.
Let's step in and have a look at what Toyota has to offer, shall we?
Just like all the all the cars from Toyota’s stable, the Yaris gets a simplified interior with added premium read wood inserts and equipped with the latest technology. Let's have a look at what is under the hood that drives this sedan. The Toyota Yaris is powered with a 1.5-litre dual VTVT four cylinder petrol engine that churns out 90bhp of power. This mill is coupled with six-speed manual gearbox and it will also get an optional CVT transfer case. Well, you must be wondering why arent we talking about any diesel mill. Toyota claims that at a later stage they will be offering the 1.4 litre diesel engine that powers the Etios and the Corolla. This diesel engine will be coupled to a six speed manual gearbox.
Once launched the Toyota Yaris will compete head on with the Honda City, the Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, VW Vento and the Skoda Rapid. Toyota hasn't officially announced the price but we are expecting it to be available between the range of Rs 8 lakh to Rs 13 lakh.
