Datsun, a low cost brand of Nissan, will reveal its entry level hatchback redi-Go tomorrow i.e. April 14, 2016 in Delhi. The car will be placed below the Go hatchback and will compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Alto, Hyundai Eon, Tata Nano GenX and Renault Kwid. Here are 5 things you should know about it.
Datsun redi-Go is build on the same CMF-A platform which underpins Renault Kwid. The CMF-A platform is Renault-Nissan Alliance platform which as described by Carlos Ghosn will also be used to make other future models.
The official sketch images of the redi-GO reveal that it looks more or less similar to the redi-GO concept which was first showcased at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. It will look similar to Kwid with swept-back headlamps, high ground clearance, high shoulder line, chunky square shape wheel arches and roof rails. The car will be “very different” and “very urban-centric” as described by Trevor Mann, chief performance officer for Nissan.
3) Engine and Transmission
No surprises on that! redi-Go will use the 800cc petrol engine with five speed manual gearbox, same as that of Kwid. On the later stages, we also expect it to receive 1.0-litre AMT gearbox.
4) On-Board Features
The hatchback will not be as well-equipped as the Kwid, since it will be pitched below the Kwid and Go hatchback. A major omission could probably be the large touchscreen, which is a USP for the Kwid.
5) Price and Launch Date
It is expected that Datsun will launch the redi-Go hatchback in the price range of Rs 2.5 to 2.6 lac. The car will be launched in the month of May. More details on this will be revealed upon its unveiling on April 14, 2016, so stay tuned to MyNewCar Twitter or Facebook page as we cover the unveiling event live for our readers.
