The American car manufacturer Jeep will soon launch its three new products in India and the company most likely will showcase its upcoming vehicles at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo. Jeep is looking for its entry in Indian auto segment from past four years (Right From 2012 Auto Expo) and the company is now finally up for the game. The carmaker has even launched its official website with 3 models: Grand Cherokee, Grand Cherokee SRT and Wrangler Unlimited. Let’s get familiar to these upcoming SUVs.
Jeep Grand Cherokee
Built on the chassis of Mercedes M-Class, the Cherokee is Jeep’s luxury SUV. Under the hood, there is a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 petrol mill which produces an output of 305bhp. The engine is coupled to ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifter that offers a whole new level of driving comfort. The Grand Cherokee will also come with a 4X4 Quadra-Drive system along with engine stop-start system. The Grand Cherokee will lock horns with the likes of Land Rovers, Mercedes ML and GL-Class and Audi Q7.
Jeep Grand Cherokee STR
The Cherokee STR is a more powerful model which houses a 6.4-litre V8 petrol engine, good enough to muster an output of 475bhp. SRT along with its two siblings will be brought in the country via CBU. All these models will be offered with an automatic gearbox only. Though rumour mills suggest that the company is also working on 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre powertrains coupled with six-speed manual gearbox.
Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
Wrangler is more like an off-road SUV with distinct characteristic of a 4×4 vehicle. It is company’s entry level and is powered by 2.8-litre diesel engine for an output of 197 horses and 460 Nm of torque. Transmission is handled by 6-speed manual along with a transfer case which lets you choose between 2H, 2L, 4H, and 4L. The SUV also offers electronically lockable differentials for the front and rear, as well as a low ratio crawl gear.
