Since a few months, Nissan has been gearing up for the launch of the upcoming Kicks in the Indian market. Recently, Nissan also released a teaser of this model. According to some sources, now it is confirmed that Nissan will be revealing the Indian Spec Kicks on the 18th of October 2018. With this there will also be a price announcement that will take place in the month of January next year.
Just like the models sold in the international market, even the Indian spec model will most likely look similar. But indeed there will be some difference between both of them. The Indian spec Kicks will be based on platform that is similar to the one used on the Terrano. Hence it can be said that the length and wheelbase of the Kicks which will be launched in India will be similar to the Terrano. This means that this SUV will be offered with more legroom and lots of luggage space in comparison with the international model as it is based on Nissan’s V-platform.
Nissan will be offering the Kicks with a five seat layout and the interior design and layout will be somewhat similar to global model. Hence it is expected the India bond Kicks to get premium fit and finish along with modern features and technology such as a 8.0 inch touchscreen infotainment and many more.
For the Indian market, Nissan will power the Kicks with both the petrol and diesel motors. Both the petrol and diesel models may get the 1.5 litre unit. The diesel motor could be coupled with a six speed manual gearbox, but the petrol motor will get an option of a five speed manual or CVT transfer case.
Although Nissan will be unveiling the Kicks on the 18th of October, this SUV will be launched in January 2019. Once launched the Nissan Kicks will compete against the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Creta and the Ford EcoSport in the Indian market. It can be expected that Nissan will offer the Kicks with a price ranging from Rs 9-13 lakh.
