Tata Motors is gearing up to take the wraps off the Nexon Electric Vehicle (EV) on the 16th of December 2019. It is expected that the Indian car manufacturer will be launching this Electric Vehicle in the start of 2020. With the launch of the Nexon Electric, it will mark the first model to debut the Ziptron powertrain. Tata Motors will surely be displaying the Nexon Electric Vehicle at the upcoming Auto Expo 2020.

With this, Tata Motors has been working very hard and it has been conducting exclusive tests on this Electric Vehicle. The tests are being conducted in different regions, various terrains and challenging altitudes. Spy pics of the Nexon EV which were conducting test runs had also gone viral some weeks ago. Recently Milind Soman and Ankita Konwa took the #TheUltimateElectricDrive challenge and drove the Tata Nexon EV from Manali to Leh. All of this excites us and has been keeping us eager for this Electric Compact SUV.
Design and Exterior
In addition to this, the Indian manufacturer is also working on a facelift of the Nexon. It is rumoured that the front fascia draws inspiration from the new Harrier-esque. The test runs are being conducted on it as well. Hence we could expect that the electric version of the Nexon to also get this facelift design. Once the Nexon EV is launched in the early 2020, it will be the most affordable electric SUV in the Indian market.
Coming to the hardware, we have already mentioned that Tata Motors is going to debut its most awaited Ziptron powertrain. According to Tata Motors, they have tested this powertrain for more than one million kilometres. The Ziptron powertrain consists of a permanent magnet AC motors which draw power from the IP67 rated dust and waterproof battery pack. As of now the technical specifications haven't been revealed, but we are expecting that this EV Compact SUV will have a range of 300km. All we can do is wait patiently till 16th December 2019 for the official statements.
Battery Range and Charging Infrastructure
With this, Tata Motors is also working extensively to build charging infrastructures. As of now, around 85 charging stations have been developed in a total of 13 cities in the nation.
Tata Motors is aiming to bring up 300 charging stations for the five metro cities that include Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Delhi.
Rivals and Price Range

In terms of pricing, we could expect that the Nexon EV will be launched in a price bracket ranging from Rs 15 lakh Ex-Showroom to Rs 17 Ex-Showroom.
