New Hyundai i20 Launched Today in India - Variants Price List, Specs, Looks, Review
Hyundai has launched the new i20 with a starting price of Rs 6.79 lakh. This is the new generation of the i20 premium hatchback and comes with various engine options. It competes with the rivals like the Maruti Baleno, Tata Altroz plus VW Polo. Here in this article we will talk about the price plus our review of the exterior along with the spec.
New Hyundai i20 Price and Variants
The starting price of the i20 is Rs 6.79 lakh and the new i20 comes with four trim options like Magna, Sportz, Asta and Asta (O). The top-end DCT is priced at Rs 11.17 lakh. In terms of price the new i20 offers a lot value especially the starting price for the 1.2l manual. The CVT is also priced well at Rs 8.59 lakh. The Turbo carries a premium of near two lakh over the 1.2l petrol and we think it makes sense to buy. The diesel carries a premium of Rs 1.4 lakh over the petrol.
New Hyundai i20 Specifications
In terms of dimensions the new i20 is longer at 3995 mm in length while it is 1775mm in width. The new i20 is also longer and wider than the earlier generation model. The new i20 offers you two petrol options with a 1.2l petrol with either 83 bhp and 86 bhp. The base 83 bhp comes with a 5-speed manual while you can also get a CVT automatic with more power at 86 bhp. The CVT petrol gives 19.65 kmpl while the manual gives 20.35 kmpl.
The more expensive turbo petrol gets the more powerful 120 bhp power plus it comes standard with an iMT gearbox while there is also a Dual clutch automatic. The mileage of the turbo is 20.25 kmpl. There is also a diesel 1.5l with 100 bhp and there Hyundai offers you a 6-speed manual only. The mileage is 25.2 kmpl and that is highest for a hatchback! It also uses a new lighter platform.
New Hyundai i20 Exterior Review
In terms of looks there is no doubt that the new i20 is stunning and in terms of presence or quality there is a massive improvement too. Compared to rivals, the new i20 looks bigger and crucially- a segment higher. The build quality for one is tougher and better than the earlier i20 plus the paint on the red test car we had also looked good.
In terms of design it follows the new generation Hyundai design look which is about sportiness but also it looks better than the Venue we think. The 16inch alloys are stylish and big with a diamond cut finish while the way the roof flows in along with side lines are all well done. The front gets LED headlamps with DRLs plus it has projector fog lamps below. The shape is interesting and the headlamps are nicely stretched out. You will also notice the way the side character line goes from one side to the rear tail-lamp. There is also blacked out grille and mirrors along with the dual tone black roof which adds sportiness.
The side of the i20 shows the width of the car and the design which is less boxy from the earlier one. There is also chrome used on various places. The tail-lamps are LED are Z shaped while there is more chrome on the roofline along with an antenna. Overall in terms of exterior the new i20 looks very good and a class bigger which makes it worth the money.
