The new Toyota Yaris Cross was all set to make its debut in the international motor convention that was hosted in Geneva this year but, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the launch was hosted online a few days ago. The new Toyota Yaris Cross mini is based on the Yaris Supermini that is currently available in the international market. The car will be on sale first in Japan his year followed by Europe. The new car will sit below C-HR of the company’s SUV lineup. The car is more practical than the Yaris Supermini with better interior space and a 40:20:40 split-folding rear seat.
The new Yaris Cross is a 5-seater with a wheelbase of 2,560 mm. The car gets noticeable design quotes along with a range of accessories. The feature list includes, electric tailgate, 18-inch wheels, Brass Gold paint scheme, height-adjustable and split cargo floor and belt system. The car will also have some attractive offers like optional upgrades and packages.
Performance
The Yaris Cross will be powered by the same liter 1.5-liter three-cylinder petrol engine mated to an electric motor, converting it to a hybrid system. The engine produces a total of 116 ps of power and will come mated to a CVT automatic transmission along with a dedicated front-wheel-drive mode. The car also is offered in AWD configuration. The FWD trim claims a co2 emission rating of less than 120g/km and the AWD claims lesser than 135 g/km of CO2.
The new Yaris Cross will take about another year to come to India. The car is expected to be launched in India later in 2021 considering its performance in the international market with few changes and a different name.
