The much awaited Ford Endeavour BS VI is now available in the market at prices ranging from Rs29.55 lakhs to Rs 33.25 lakhs (ex showroom Delhi). This means that the new Ford Endeavour is now cheaper than the outgoing model by up to Rs 1.4 Lakhs. This is Ford's benchmark product for India and Ford has high hopes that this will do well despite the stiff competition from Toyota Fortuner.
It will be wrong to call this update a facelift as there have been only slight changes in the design. It includes redesigned headlamps and faux vent on the fender with ‘Endeavour’ badging. It continues to remain one of the best looking butch SUVs out there in the market.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The new Ford Endeavour now comes with only a single engine option – a 2.0 litre EcoBlue engine that churns out 168BHP max power and 420Nm peak torque i.e. 20% improvement in low-end torque. The new engine returns 13.9 kmpl for the 4X2 and 12.4kmpl for 4X4 variant, 14% more than the outgoing model. Ford claims that the engine is more refined and quieter with the 4 decibel reduction in audible noise. Earlier the Endeavour was available with two engine options: 2.2 litre and 3.2 litre TDCi diesel engines.
The Ford Endeavour now becomes the only vehicle in the country to be offered with a 10 speed torque converter automatic transmission. Ford claims that the transmission helps in reducing the gaps in available power and acceleration between gears providing smoother acceleration response.
