Honda City New & Old Models to be Sold along with BS6 Format
Honda is all geared up to introduce the fifth-generation City in the Indian market. This sedan was supposed to be launched in March, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the launch has been delayed. With that lock-down rules being eased up in some regions, it is expected that Honda will launch the new City in the coming weeks. It is known that Honda won’t replace the Current Version of the CIty, both the models will be sold side by side in the market.
According to some media reports, the upcoming Honda City and the current version Honda City will be sold together in the Indian market. As both, the models are very much different from each other, this will help the Japanese car manufacturer to widen its customer base. These media reports also suggest that Honda will target the fleet owners with the current generation City. This is a strategy used by many manufacturers as seen with the Maruti Suzuki Dzire and the Hyundai Xcent.
The current generation Honda City has been upgraded to meet the BS6 emission norms, but these are only limited to the petrol engine. As Honda is launching the new-gen City it will be powered with both BS6 compliant petrol and diesel mills. It is not known if Honda will upgrade the diesel engine to meet the BS6 emission norms for the current-gen City. It could be possible that the Japanese manufacturer will only sell the current generation City with a petrol engine only and might introduce CNG variants to target the fleet owners.
All-new Honda City will be offered with a 20mm longer wheelbase as compared to the current model. It will also come equipped with LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, a connected infotainment system that will also get Amazon Alexa support, lane watch system, 7.0-inch high definition MID, first in segment vehicle stability assist and agile handling assist. With this, we are expecting that there will be an increase of by Rs.40,000 when compared to the current model.
Honda, on the other hand, will most likely strip down the features on the current-gen City to create a bigger price difference. It will also cut down on variants as well. We at MYNEWCAR.in are expecting that Honda will most likely launch the Upcoming fifth-generation Honda City at the end of this month or the start of June.
