Upcoming Jeep Compass 7 Seater - Grand Commander Spy Pics, Details – June,2022 India Launch at 20 Lakhs?
Earlier Jeep India had announced that it will launch three SUVs for the Indian market. Those three SUVs are the new Compass, Wrangler locally assembled and the all new 7-seater SUV. That 7-seater SUV would be based on the Compass platform but will have its own identity and its name will not have Compass in it. Now the upcoming 7 seater Compass SUV has been spied in China with the name 'Grand Commander'.
This is the bigger 7 seater SUV based on the Compass and these spy images completely reveal how this SUV will look. The Grand Commander or the 7 seater Compass would be much bigger than the Compass with and have different looking panels.
As compared to the Compass, which is 4405 mm long, 1818 mm wide and 1640 mm in height, the new 7-Seater Grand Commander is expected to be about 490 mm longer with length of 4895 mm to accommodate the 3rd row of seats.
So it is not just a stretched Compass. In terms of design the front end does borrow from the facelift Compass with the grille and the headlamps but the side and the rear is completely different. The roofline is more boxy as well while overall, the SUV has presence.
The rear styling is all new with tail-lamps being connected and a large chrome badge showcasing the name of the car. The SUV will also have a long wheelbase with the three row seats while the top-spec versions will have a captain seat lay-out too. The feature list will borrow extensively from the new Compass including the digital dials, touch screen, ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, connected tech and more. The SUV will only have a diesel engine with being the same 2.0 unit from the Compass but with more torque and power to handle the extra weight. It will have the same 9-speed automatic also standard
The 7-seater Compass pricing is expected to start at around 20 lakhs to rival the upcoming XUV700 with the prices of the top variant be be just under 30 lakhs to compete with MG Gloster, Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.
The 7-seater SUV would also be made in India for export purposes to other right hand drive markets with production expected to start by mid 2022. The 7 seater Compass may be called the Grand Commander or the Patriot in India.
