Maruti Suzuki Jimny 3-door to be more expensive over Brezza

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT JIMNY 3-DOOR CAR - SPECS, FEATURES, ON-ROAD PRICE
Maruti is finally launching the Jimny next year or so it seems. With test cars now being seen on our roads, it is clear that the Jimny is indeed on its way and the success of the new Mahindra Thar has only helped in Maruti deciding to bring the car here. The Jimny was shown at the Auto Expo and despite being shown a few days later, the Jimny was still one of the biggest stars of the show and got everyone talking. The car showed there was also the 3-door version.
Now with India being made as the production hub plus not to mention the fact that the 3-door as well as the 5-door being made here, we would no doubt get the Jimny. However India will first get the 3-door variant and get the buzz going while the 5-door would come in later.
Just like the new Thar, which Mahindra has first brought in a 3-door and later will launch a more practical 5-door aimed at family SUV buyers, Maruti will first launch the Jimny as a lifestyle SUV and as a 3-door and then comes the 5-door.
We expect the new Jimny 3-door to come in the end or slightly later of next year. The 3-door would be more of a 2+2 and a lifestyle car. It would be expected to replace the Gypsy which has been an icon in India. The Jimny would only come with the 1.5l petrol that currently powers all Maruti cars like the Ciaz, Ertiga and Brezza plus more. It will have a manual as standard and a 4-speed auto though we do not expect the smart hybrid system to be offered here.
In terms of price the Jimny would not be as affordable as you think despite having 3-doors. The Jimny is not a family SUV and with 4x4, it will be aimed at the lifestyle off-road market plus for those who want a compact SUV that can go off-road. So the Jimny would be more expensive over the Brezza which is of course front wheel drive. The Jimny might be as spacious or feature loaded as the Brezza, but the off-road and unique looks will command a big premium over the Brezza. Plus the 5-door version expected later would be even more expensive. Expect a Rs 10 lakh starting price for sure.
Seen here are images of the 3-door being tested and on pics at least it looks the same as Jimny sold overseas with no changes at all. Maruti it seems will not do any change with Jimny 3-door and get it straight here. So there you go, the new Jimny is coming first in 3-door and while it will not be cheap, it would be a desirable offering.
The Jimny is a ladder frame SUV and gets 4wheeldrive and low-range. However unlike the previous Jimny, the new one is a lot more luxurious with a touchscreen, climate control and more. The version on sale in India will be the fully loaded one also.
