Mahindra eXUV300 vs Nexon EV Electric Car Range Comparison
Upcoming 2022 Mahindra eXUV300 vs Nexon EV Electric Car Range Comparison
The electric car game is getting more competitive in India, especially after the success of the Tata Nexon EV, which has certainly fuelled that. Till now EVs have not been hugely successful but with the Nexon EV selling more than 3000 cars since its launch, that story has changed. The reason for the success of the Nexon EV has been its price, value and the decent range while the Tata power network has also given it an advantage.
With Tata now having an upper hand in the EV game, Mahindra, which started the electric scene in India with the Reva, is now gearing to catch up with the electric version of the XUV300 expected to be launched by early 2022. It is to be called as eXUV300 and the XUV300 electric is the start of many new electric cars that we can expect from Mahindra in the years to come.
The eXUV300 is the first SUV that is coming and while the car was shown at the 2020 Auto Expo, the production version will have some changes. With the Nexon EV as its main rival, Mahindra is targeting to better the range and also make the eXUV300 an attractive product. Compared to the Nexon EV, the eXUV300 will have a more altered front end with no grille while it will have different looking headlamps along with front bumper. It will have different looking alloys and tyres too. The rear too would be different with new LED tail-lamps and alloys along with blue detailing.
The interiors are expected to be the same save for different detailing. The equipment list would be the same too with a sunroof. The big talking point is the battery and range when compared to the Nexon EV. The eXUV300 will have a 40kWh battery pack while the claimed range would be well above 300km and close to 350km. There would be two battery packs with the eXUV300 to cater at different price points.
The Nexon EV has a 30.2 kWh battery pack with a claimed range is 312km which Mahindra is planning to better. We think the top-end variants with more range would be more expensive while the smaller battery pack version would be cheaper. We expect eXUV300 prices to be between Rs 13-18 lakh.
