Maruti Suzuki now powers the Ciaz with a new diesel mill
Maruti Suzuki has developed an in-house 1.5-litre diesel unit and it is capable of generating 94bhp of power and 225Nm of torque.
This diesel mill will be matted with an all-new six-speed manual gearbox and it will deliver a fuel efficiency of 26.82 km per litre.
The new mill will miss out on Maruti’s SHVS mild hybrid technology.
After much waiting Maruti Suzuki has finally launched the all-new 1.5-litre diesel motor for the Ciaz. This new oil burner has been developed by Maruti Suzuki itself and it will be available in the following three trim levels only: Delta, Zeta and Alpha. Maruti Suzuki is retailing these models from a starting price of Rs 9.97 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Delhi).
If we compare the price of the models with the new 1.5-litre diesel mills with the previous 1.3-litre models, the former is priced higher by Rs 17,000. This new 1l.5 litre DDiS diesel mill can produce 94 bhp of power and 225 Nm of torque and in addition to this, it will also be coupled with an all-new six-speed manual transmission.
The Indian car manufacturer also claims that the new transmission which has been used offers light gear shifts along with a smooth drive. With this, the new oil burner delivers a fuel economy of 26.82 km on one litre of fuel which makes it a leader in its segment. But what also has to be noted that this diesel mill doesn't come with Maruti Suzuki’s SHVS mild hybrid technology.
According to Maruti Suzuki, the engine uses a Dual Mass Flywheel this allows the engine to work in optimized compression ratio thus reducing engine fluctuations. In addition to this, the new diesel motor offers better NVH performance.
As of now, Maruti has also relocated the reverse gear position next to the first gear. Also, now the Indian car manufacturer no longer offers the Sigma trim for the Ciaz with a diesel engine. Facelift of the Tata Nexon spied
A heavily camouflaged Tata Nexon has been spotted doing test runs in the country.
It is expected that Tata Motors will update this compact SUV with its IMPACT 2.0 design language.
From the past couple of year, the Nexon has become the most demanding product to roll out from Tata Motors stable. In addition to this, in the recent Global NCAP tests, it scored five-star ratings making it the first Indian car to achieve it. As of now, a test mule of the Tata Nexon has been spotted with heavy camouflaged conducting test runs in India.
With this, it also hints that Tata Motors will bring an update to the Nexon with the IMPACT 2.0 design. In addition to this, there are also rumours that the Indian car manufacturer also has plans to upgrade all its existing products with the IMPACT 2.0 design language.
In the meantime, an official statement about the same is still awaited from Tata Motors. Along with the new design language, the Nexon will also comply with the BS-VI Emission Norms that will be mandated in the country from the year 2020. With the new updates, the prices for the Nexon will also be increased, there are also chances that Tata Motors will also upgrade the Nexon from the current X1 platform with the new ALFA platform which will underpin the upcoming Altroz.
In terms of the mechanical part, Tata Motors will most likely continue to power the Upcoming Nexon with the same 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel motors.

Hyundai Motors has discontinued the EON for the Indian market
In the Indian automotive market, Hyundai Motors has officially discontinued the EON.
For the past eight years, the EON was the entry level hatchback for Hyundai Motors in India and now the New Santro has officially become the entry-level model for Hyundai.
Officially, Hyundai Motors has pulled the plug of its entry-level hatchback, the EON for the Indian market. The Eon was discontinued back in December last year and now Hyundai has also taken off the listing of the same from its official Indian website.
The Korean car manufacturer had launched the Eon back in India in October 2011 and right from then it was on sale for straight eight years. With the launch of the Eon, Hyundai strapped itself to compete against the highest selling Alto 800. And with this, it indeed provided a healthy competition in the entry level hatchback segment.
Hyundai used to power the Eon with an 800cc, three-cylinder petrol mill that used to produce 55 bhp of power and 75Nm of the twist. With the increase in demand for a much powerful motor, the Eon was also made available with a 1.0 litre Kappa petrol engine in the year 2014.
This 1.0-litre engine generated 65 bhp of power and 95Nm of torque. These engine options were coupled with a five-speed manual gearbox. In the Indian market, the Eon was not bestowed with any facelifts, but it indeed gave timely updates for the engine, modern technology, features and safety kit.
As of now, the new Santro becomes the entry-level car for the Korean car manufacturer in the Indian market. Now we have to look forward, whether Hyundai will launch a successor for the Eon.
Also, Eon’s arch-rival, the Alto will be entering a new generation, hence we could expect something very competitive from Hyundai. If you're still interested in buying the Hyundai Eon, you can still get your hands on some. This will only be available till the stocks of the Eon last.

Mahindra XUV 300 Electric spotted testing
Spy images of the heavily camouflage Mahindra XUV 300 Electric have been surfing all over the internet.
As of now, the exact details of the powertrain is not available.
It is expected that Mahindra will launch the electric version of the Mahindra XUV 300 by the year 2020.
When Mahindra launched the XUV 300 in the Indian market, the Indian car manufacturer had promised us that they will also be launching an electric version of the same.
It was also indicated that the electric sub four metre SUV will be launched somewhere around the second half of 2020. As of now, a test mule has been spotted conducting test runs and from the spy images, we also get to know that it is in the initial stages of development.
The design and aesthetics of this electric car will be similar to the one of the standard XUV 300. As of now, we don't have much information regarding the details of the powertrains.
However, as this is an electric vehicle we can expect that it will be available with an aero-grille on the front fascia. On the test mule, it can be seen that headlights get an aggressive design, also this model was spotted running on steel rims.
Mahindra has codenamed the electric version of the Mahindra XUV 300 as S210. This isn't the first electric car from the Indian manufacturer, but it will indeed be the first electric compact SUV in the Indian market.
According to some reports, it is also known that Mahindra is working on a new set of high powered electric powertrains. We can also expect high-density lithium-ion battery technology which is being co-developed together by Mahindra Electric and LG Chem.
