2021 MG ZS Electric Launch at 21 Lakh & 419 Km Range
New 2021 MG ZS Electric SUV Facelift Launched in India at 20.99 Lakh and Improved Range of 419 Km
MG Motor has launched the new ZS in India and it gets some updates to the 2021 model. The updated ZS gets some important changes though in respect to being an EV with prices starting at Rs 20.99 lakh. The most important factor to buying an EV is the range and here the new ZS gets a new battery which increases the range to 419kms. In the real world expect the range to be between 300-400 km but that is an increase over the current ZS. The battery is a new 44.5 kWh Hi-Tech one.
Another crucial change is the added ground clearance since being an EV means that ground clearance is affected but not so here as the ZS gets an increase. It has new 215/55/R17 tyres which also help in increasing the ground clearance while the overall vehicle and battery-pack ground clearances have been increased to 177 mm and 205 mm. Finally MG ZS owners can track their CO2 savings via the ‘EcoTree Challenge’. To refresh, the MG ZS comes with 143 PS power and 350 Nm torque and can reach from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.5 seconds. You can get the ZS via two variants – Excite and Exclusive. In the top-end variant you have features like panoramic sunroof, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, PM 2.5 Filter, and more.
Another crucial change is that the new ZS is now available via 31 cities from the 5 it was first sold in. With the ZS you have 5-way charging ecosystem including free AC fast-charger at residences/offices, portable in-car charging cable, DC superfast charging stations at dealerships, 24x7 charge-on-the-go facility (in 5 cities), and charging stations in satellite cities and tourist hubs.
The MG ZS competes with the Hyundai Kona EV and also to some extent the Tata Nexon EV. The ZS was the second launch for MG after the Hector in India and has met with good success over the year and a half it has been on sale. The updated ZS of course gets free-of-charge 5-year warranty for unlimited KMs, 8yrs / 1.5 lac KM warranty on the Battery Pack system, Roadside Assistance (RSA) for 5 years, and 5 Labour-free Services. The new changes have no doubt made the new ZS a much more attractive option especially with respect to range and the enhanced ground clearance. This should see more sales of this car.
