Datsun launched the heavily updated Redigo yesterday and the car has various updates. Till now the Redigo has been the best selling model for Datsun but sales wise there was more that the Redigo was capable of. Now Datsun has made the changes and it looks much more appealing with BS6 engines of course. There is new styling inside out plus finally the features list has been upgraded to meet with new competition too. We tell you the Top 5 changes of this car.
The biggest change is in the new Redigo has to be its styling as it looks completely different now. It looks a lot more aggressive with a completely different face. The front has those big DRLs which are on the side while the headlamps are much sharper. The newer bumper also looks much better now. There are bigger wheel covers which look nearly as good as alloy wheels while there are new colours too with two options here.
Inside there is another big change and probably the bit that needed changing in the first place. The interior looks much better designed and we hope quality has improved too. There are new silver finish bits while the centre console is different and adds to the look.
A big change is also the features list with a new 8inch touch-screen having Android Auto, Apple CarPlay while also having a display for a rear view camera. Then you can internally adjust the ORVMs also.
The Redi-Go is much safer now as it now complies with the latest crash test norms plus in terms of safety it gets a seat belt reminder, ABS with EBD, dual airbags etc.
The engine is now BS6 also with both 800cc and 1.0 engines being there. The 800cc makes 54 bhp while the 1.0 makes 68 bhp. A manual is standard while an AMT is optional on the 1.0. Mileage figures are 20.7 for the 800cc and 21.7 for the 1.0 while the AMT is 22 kmpl. The AMT version then offers the most mileage due to its gearbox.
The Redigo is priced at Rs 2.8 lakh starting while the top-end is 4.77 lakh. It is cheaper than rivals while the 187mm ground clearance plus space helps while now it is much better looking along with having a bigger equipment list. The new Redigo competes with the likes of the Renault Kwid and the Maruti S-Presso. The Kwid also got an extensive facelift last year with a new look and more features. The Redigo compares to both of these cars has striking looks plus the space along with the required features. Yes while the Datsun brand may not inspire as much confidence as the Maruti or even Renault; a good deal is something the Indian car buyer cannot ignore especially during these times with Covid-19 expected to have people getting into new car ownership again. The Redigo is something you should consider now.
