New Toyota Land Cruiser 300 4x4 SUV Launched – Images, Engine Specifications & First Review. Coming to India in 2022 to Rival Range Rover?
The Land Cruiser name is an iconic offroader and has been on sale for 70 years. The new Land Cruiser 300 takes what the 200 offers and gives it more luxury along with performance as well as technology. It gets the new TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform which has been adopted for the body on frame chassis. The new LC 300 is actually 200 kgs lighter than the earlier model while it has a lower center of gravity too.
In terms of its off-road and on-road performance, more technologies are added with E-KDSS (Electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System), a Multi-Terrain Monitor, which instantly displays obstacles as viewed from the driver's viewpoint and the Multi Terrain Select, which automatically judges the road surface and selects the best driving mode. Four wheel drive is of course standard.
As reported earlier, there is no V8 and instead it gets a new V6 twin-turbo engine (3.5-liter petrol and 3.3-liter diesel). The 3.5 litre petrol pumps out 409 horsepower and 650 Newton-meters of torque. In spite of having two fewer cylinders, the new V6 petrol engine is more powerful developing nearly 30 hp more and has an improved fuel economy. The 3.3-liter turbodiesel pumps out 305 horsepower and 700 Newton-meters of torque.
Gearbox is a new Direct Shift-10AT (10-speed automatic transmission). That said off-road driving, dimensions including the total length, width, and wheelbase, as well as the departure and approach angles have been kept the same as the previous model. The ground clearance measures 230 millimeters.
The interior has been completely revamped and it features a massive 12.3-inch touch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration along with new buttons with a premium touch. The dials are new as well. It gets features like a heads up display, powered tail-gate, wireless charging, a 360-degree camera, air ionizer along with a cool fingerprint entry system. It also gets a new Parking Support Brake, which recognizes obstacles.
It is yet to be seen whether India gets the new model but since the earlier LC was on sale here we do expect it to arrive on our shores by end of 2022 in select numbers via the CBU route. The New Toyota Land Cruiser 300 4x4 SUV would not be cheap with prices expected to be between Rs 1.5cr to Rs 2cr
