10 New Upcoming Cars Launching in June 2021 After Delay Due to the Pandemic
The pandemic has caused havoc and has messed everything up and that even includes car launches. With lockdown, plant closures and uncertainties looming large, car-makers have no choice but to postpone new car launches. Here we look at 10 such new cars which have been delayed due to the pandemic in India and expected to be launched next month
By now the Alcazar should have been launched but this second wave has halted proceedings. Now the upcoming SUV from Hyundai would be launched around June end if the lockdown eases up and plants re-open along with supply chain and other things. The Alcazar is based on the Creta and is a 3-row SUV from Hyundai. It will have a 2.0 l petrol engine and a 1.5l diesel along with more features for the second row occupants too.
New-Gen 2021 Maruti Celerio
Maruti is also planning to bring the new gen Celerio in India but the current situation has forced it to postpone it. The new Celerio is based on the new platform underpinning the Baleno and Swift amongst others while having more features including a touch screen. Compared to the current one, it will get the latest infotainment system as well from Maruti. It will be more luxurious and will also get a 1.2l petol for more performance as an additional option.
CNG Tata Tiago and Tigor
The Tiago and Tigor variants will get a CNG option and that will make them a lot more competitive and value for money. Recently they have been caught testing and launch could be soon but again the timeline has been affected due to the pandemic. The engine would be the current 1.2l petrol and both cars would sport CNG badging while a special colour might be offered.
New-Gen 2021 Skoda Octavia
The new Octavia has been eagerly awaited by sedan fans and amongst this line-up of SUV launches, a new sedan is welcome. This is an all new Octavia and by this we mean, an all new platform, new styling and a feature loaded cabin. The new Octavia actually rivals much more expensive cars with its luxury and features. In India the new Octavia would be sold with a petrol engine only and it would be a much more powerful 2.0 TSI from the VW group family.
New Skoda Kushaq
The Kushaq launch has been heavily delayed by the pandemic and latest we hear is that June we will see the prices and the full specifications while deliveries will start a month later. That is if the lockdown is lifted soon. The Kushaq is an SUV targeted at the Creta/Seltos space and is made for India long with designed keeping our tastes in mind. Top-spec versions would be feature packed while it promises to have a longer wheelbase over rivals. It would only have petrol engines but it would have two of them at different price points.
Volkswagen 5 Seater 2021 Tiguan Facelift
Before the Taigun SUV hits the markets, the bigger brother that is the Tiguan would come. This is the facelifted Tiguan and will be launched soon while the date has been shifted due to the pandemic. The new Tiguan will come with a 2.0 TFI petrol which is turbocharged while it would also have a lot more in terms of features and luxury. The design has also got a subtle facelift.
The new generation of the GLA SUV should have been launched by now had it not been for the second wave. Now we expect the new GLA to hit the roads by next month if the lockdown lifts. This is the all new GLA and is a new generation model while the new version is much bigger and better now. The design has been changed while crucially there is a lot of technology and luxury on offer like more expensive Mercedes cars. It will be launched with both diesel and petrol engines.
BMW 5 Series Facelift
The facelifted version of the 5 Series has been scheduled for this year and it has also been delayed. The new 5 Series has subtle tweaks to its styling with a slightly bigger grille and new lines along with new wheel choices. The bigger change is on the inside with the bigger touch screen and the latest infotainment system along with more technologies. The engine line-up gets a 48v set-up for a power boost as well.
BS6 Force 2021 Gurkha
The new Force Gurkha has been delayed since last year and that is due to the ongoing pandemic too. We expect a launch this year though. This is an all new model which features new styling, new interiors and more features. Plus it is safer and passes the latest norms too. It still retains the ladder frame set-up for off-roading and will get a BS6 diesel engine along with a manual gearbox.
