Toyota to replace Yaris with rebadged Ciaz called Belta
Toyota to Replace Yaris Sedan with rebadged Ciaz called Belta in India?
The Yaris despite being a well accomplished midsize sedan has failed to take off in the Indian market. It was launched some years back and promised Toyota reliability along with safety features such as 7 airbags. The Yaris came with only a petrol engine and it had a CVT automatic too. The Yaris however being small in size did not have fruitful run and now it seems the car would be discontinued. Toyota instead will take a safer bet in form of a car which has already been accepted well in the Indian market. That car is the Ciaz. Toyota has been selling rebadged Maruti Suzuki cars for some time now with the Glanza and the Urban Cruiser. The Urban Cruiser has been well received and was launched with some changes from the Brezza. The Ciaz when launched by Toyota might be called as Vios. Before the launch, Toyota will first discontinue the Yaris and then launch it shortly.
Just like the Maruti Ciaz, the Toyota version will have the same 1.4l petrol engine along with a manual and the 4-speed automatic gearbox. Toyota will not just put a badge and sell it as instead we might see bigger changes like a new grille and anew upholstery. The basic interior or design will stay the same. Toyota will not most likely also mess with the alloy wheel design too. The Ciaz rebadged as Toyota will have less variants and have a longer warranty while being price same or carrying a small premium.
By this way Toyota will see a presence in the sedan market with minimal cost and going by the sales of the Glanza or Urban Cruiser, buyers do not seem to mind that as well! The next product after this would be a rebadged Ertiga MUV which may be called Avanza and postioned below the Innova Crysta!
