All New Upcoming Hyundai Cars Launching in 2020-2022 India

UPCOMING HYUNDAI HATCH, SUV & SEDAN CAR LAUNCHES BETWEEN YEAR 2020 - 2022 IN INDIA
Hyundai Motors showcased many updates for its current line up in the Indian market at the 2020 Auto Expo. With this, we have seen many models have been launched along with new upgrades. Some of the new updates include the all New Creta, New Verna and the Tucson facelift. With this, Hyundai also plans to extend its portfolio in the Indian market and we are expecting new models to be launched in the coming year. Hence we at MyNewCar get to you a list of upcoming cars from Hyundai to be launched in the Indian market in 2020 - 2021.
1. New Elantra
Expected launch: October 2021
Expected Price: Rs 16 lakh - Rs 20 lakh Ex-Showroom
In the global market, the Hyundai Elantra has been bestowed with many upgrades and this model will be making its way into the Indian market as well. With this latest update, Hyundai has developed the New Elantra on the K3 platform. It will be offered with the ‘Parametric-jewel-pattern’ front grille which is seen on the Sonata and it will be Hyundai’s new signature on all the upcoming new cars. In addition to this, the New Elantra will be offered with wraparound headlamps, redesigned front bumper, new alloy wheel design and triangular tail lamps which are connected with a thin strip. In terms of features and technology, Hyundai will be equipping the upcoming sedan with an all-digital instrument cluster, a large 10.3-inch floating type touchscreen infotainment unit and it will also get the BlueLink car connected technology.
Under the hood will be a 2.0-litre petrol engine that churns out 147 bhp of power and 264 Nm of torque and it will be coupled to a CVT automatic unit. With this, Hyundai is also offering the New Elantra with a new 1.6-litre petrol engine with a hybrid powertrain in the global market. For the Indian market, a 2.0-litre diesel unit is also expected to be an engine option. We at MyNewCar are expecting that Hyundai will be launching the New Elantra somewhere around the second half of 2021 in the price range of Rs 16 lakh - Rs 20 lakh Ex-Showroom, India.
2. New i20
Expected launch: December 2020
Expected Price: Rs 6.50 lakh - Rs 10 lakh Ex-Showroom
During the first quarter of 2020, Hyundai unveiled the third generation i20 and recently it has been spotted testing in India. In addition to this, many new details about the powertrain and the variants have also been leaked. Coming to the design and aesthetics, the upcoming i20 is based on the global spec model, it will get the signature cascading grille, swept-back headlamp unit with integrated LED DRL’s, triangular fog light housing, new alloy wheels and a wrap-around LED tail lamp unit with Z shaped LED design elements. On the inside, the whole cabin will be revamped as compared to the ongoing model. It will be equipped with an all-digital instrument cluster, new steering wheel, running air-con vents, new design dashboard, wireless charging, BlueLink car connected technology and a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit that will be compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Along with updates on the exterior design and the cabin, there will also be major upgrades under the hood. Hyundai will be offering the same engine and transmission options which are available on the Venue. This will include the 1.2-litre petrol engine which will be coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission along with the IVT automatic gearbox. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine will miss out on the manual transmission but it will get the option between the latest iMT semi-automatic gearbox and the DCT unit. On the other hand, the diesel model will be powered with the 1.5-litre unit that will be coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission. We at MyNewCar are expecting that Hyundai will be launching the upcoming i20 after the festive season in the price range between Rs 6.50 lakh to Rs 10 lakh Ex-Showroom, India.
3. New Kona
Expected launch: March 2022
Expected Price: Rs 23 lakh - Rs 25 lakh Ex-Showroom
Recently, Hyundai Motors teased the New Kona along with the Kona N Line SUV’s for the first time. The teased images showcase that the New Kona electric SUV will be offered with a new front facia that gives it sporty yet urban feel. On the other hand, the Kona N Line is offered with many aerodynamic elements. As the Kona N Line will be the latest entrant in Hyundai’s N Line portfolio, it will not make its way into the Indian market anytime soon.
Coming to the New Kona, Hyundai will be offering this upcoming electric SUV with a wider stance along with a sleeker look. The LED DRL’s will be updated which will give the front end that bold and aggressive look. In addition to this, the New Kona will be updated with a pair of triple-array LED headlamp setup. Hyundai will also be offering the upcoming electric SUV with a newly designed front and rear bumpers and a redesigned skid plate. 4. Hyundai Palisade
Expected launch: Unknown
Expected Price: Rs 25 lakh - Rs 30 lakh Ex-Showroom
Hyundai Motors is planning to launch Palisade SUV in the Indian market, with this it will lock its horns with the Ford Endeavour, Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota Fortuner, and MG Gloster. This SUV was launched back in 2018 in the global market especially with a left-hand drive model. With the growing demands for SUV, Hyundai has started to evaluate the Palisade with a right-hand drive model as well. The Palisade is a big SUV as it measures 4,980mm in length, 1,975mm in width, 1,750mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,900mm.
Powering the Hyundai Palisade could be a 3.8-litre V6 petrol engine that produces 295 bhp of power and 355 Nm of torque. For the Indian market, Hyundai could also get the 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine that is available in the South Korean market. This diesel engine will be capable of putting out 202 bhp of power 441 Nm of torque. Just like the global spec model, it may get the 8-speed automatic transmission and a 4WD system. Once launched, the Hyundai Palisade will be the most expensive model to be on sale and it will become the flagship model in the Indian market.
5. 7 Seater Creta
Expected launch: Jan- March 2021
Expected Price: Rs 15 lakh - Rs 18 lakh Ex-Showroom
An elongated version of the 2020 Creta has been spotted testing in South Korea as well as in India. It has been confirmed that Hyundai is planning to launch the 7 seater version of the Creta. This will help the Korean automotive manufacturer to lock its horns with the MG Hector Plus and the upcoming Tata Gravitas. Coming to the design elements, it will most likely be the same as the all-new Creta, but it will also get some distinctive features. Although the 7 seater version will be longer and a bit taller to accommodate to the third row efficiently. Also, the 7 seater Creta will get a longer wheelbase that will help make the cabin roomier and offer better legroom for the second and third row.
Under the hood, Hyundai could accommodate the same engine and transmission option as seen under the hood of the all-new Creta. These engines will be tweaked for better power output due to the increase in weight and dynamics for this extended SUV. We at MyNewCar are expecting that Hyundai will launch the 7 seater Creta somewhere around the first half of 2021 but with a different name. It will most likely be priced between the Rs 15 lakh to Rs 18 lakh Ex-Showroom price range.
6. New Tucson
Expected launch: Late 2021 or Early 2022
Expected Price: Rs 23 lakh - Rs 28 lakh Ex-Showroom
Recently, Hyundai Motors unveiled the fourth generation Tucson globally and it has been offered a drastic overhaul since its first launch. Comparing it to the ongoing model, it has been completely revamped in terms of exterior design and technology. It has been developed on Hyundai’s Sensuous Sportiness design language. It is being offered with half-mirror type LED DRL’s which when switched off looks like the extended portion of the grille. It gets a projector headlight setup on the front bumper and at the rear, it gets a T-shaped tail lamp which is linked with an LED bar. Although the international model gets the option of a 5-seater configuration, the Indian market will only get the 7-seater model. On the inside, the cabin will feature a 360-degree camera, 64 colours ambient mood lighting, panoramic sunroof, BlueLink car connected technology, wrap-around dashboard unit that will hold the 10.25-inch digital driver display and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit.
Coming to the powertrain options, Hyundai will be launching the New Tucson with multiple options depending upon the market. It gets the option of a 2.5-litre petrol engine that churns out 190 bhp of power and 260 Nm of torque and it also will get the option of a 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine that can put out 180 bhp of power and 264 Nm of torque. On the other hand, Hyundai will be getting in a hybrid powertrain option with the 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine. When it comes to the diesel powertrain, selected markets will be offered with a 2.0-litre turbo unit which can generate 186 bhp of power and 417 Nm of torque. Hyundai plans to launch the new-gen Tucson in the global market in mid-2021. We at MyNewCar are expecting that it could be launched in the Indian market late in 2021 or early 2022.
7. Custo MPV
Expected launch: Unknown
Expected Price: Rs 18 lakh - Rs 25 lakh Ex-Showroom
Hyundai Motors is the second-largest car manufacturer in the Indian market, but still, it misses out on a car in the MPV segment. As of now, the Korean manufacturer plans to launch a 7 seater MPV which has been spied testing in China. According to the spy images, we get to know that this MPV will be offered with Hyundai’s new design language and the front fascia looks very much similar to the next-gen Tucson. In addition to this, the upcoming MPV features black body cladding, dual-tone alloy wheel, a sliding door just like the one seen on the Kia Carnival. The cabin of the Custo MPV will feature a large touchscreen infotainment unit, a butterfly style steering wheel which is seen on the all-new Creta, paddle shifters, a fully digital instrument cluster and AC vents in the second row.
Under the hood of the Hyundai Custo MPV will be a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine that can produce 237 bhp of power and 353 Nm of torque. This petrol engine will be mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. It is expected that this upcoming MPV will sit below the Carnival and will lock its horns with the Toyota Innova Crysta. As of now, there isn't much information on the pricing but we at MyNewCar expect that Hyundai will launch the Custo at a competitive price range to compete in the MPV segment.
