Known for its quality, build and design, the Swedish carmaker goes all the way to pull all the stops with its new mid-size luxury SUV. The Volvo XC60 is based on the scalable product architecture platform (SPA) of the brand. The more popular XC 90 is said to have based on the same platform as well.
The new XC60 comes with a 44mm taller wheelbase. The car also adds 11mm to its width making it shorter by 14mm. The new XC60 measures 4688mm in length, 1902mm in width and 1658mm in height. The car has a wheelbase of 2865mm and 216mm of ground clearance. The car has bold character lines with striking shoulder lines, electrically operable ORVMs, integrated turn signal lights that come with alloy wheels. The back of the car looks more like XC90 with its vertical LED headlamps, roof-mounted spoilers and large bumper along with chrome accents. The car gets a boot space of 495 liters.
The car that was initially for sale since 2011 will get only one variant, 'Inscription' that comes loaded with new features. The car will be available in a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder twin- turbocharged diesel only engine that will produce 233bhp of power along with 480Nm of torque. The car will be available in an 8-speed automatic. The car will be coupled with a four wheel drive option. The car will get eco, comfort, dynamic, off road and individual drive modes. The xc60 has other variants globally namely, T5 and T6 which are petrol powered and an entry-level diesel motor, D4. So there is also a possibility of XC60 receiving a petrol version as well. The car has a mileage of 14kmpl with 70 liters of fuel tank capacity.
The feature list includes, cooled/ heated front seats with a massage function, 9.0-inch centre Sensus touchscreen system, 360-degree camera, semi-automatic parking, blind-spot assist, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control. The car will also be provided with a huge panoramic sunroof. Safety features include, collision warning, distance alert, automatic braking and lane keeping aid. Apart from that, standard features like, child lock safety, airbags, ABS with EBD, steering mounted audio, USB support and rain sensing wipers will also be provided.
In India, the car will rival the huge luxury brands and one of their best creations like Audi Q5, BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Jaguar F-Pace, and the upcoming Lexus NX300h.
The car is expected to be priced between Rs. 56 lakhs- Rs. 70 lakhs. The car will be one of the flagship models by Volvo in India and is expected to do well in the Indian automobile market.
