Colour, colour which colour do you choose?
Buying a car is a pretty expensive affair. We tend to compare a car’s features, engines and interiors but we sometimes ignore the color options that they come in. The car manufacturer’s provide a variety of colours for each model that they launch. All the colors available for a certain model are well thought out to enhance the appearance of the car.
You may always choose your favorite color but it may not always be right for your car. If you choose a wrong color, it may not give you the satisfaction of the purpose of the car. Even with its preferred appearances, you may feel something ‘missing’ in your car.
There are a few factors that should be considered before deciding on a car color.
The color of the car can hugely depend on its purpose. A wrong color can make the car feel out of place. For example: choosing a bright color (orange, lighter shades of blue, green etc.) For a corporate car may not be the best choice.
Lighter shades like white, silver etc. Are easier to clean and will have less visible scratches compared to the cars that have a darker color. Dark colors like black absorb light hence, darker colors will also heat up the interior of the car more during summer compared to lighter colors.
Lighter colors are easy to spot in the dark while darker colors may camouflage on a dark road causing visibility issues.
Each color has its own vibe. Black depicts status symbol, red translates to speed (hence majorly used in sports cars), white equates to professionalism, while colors like bright green, orange, yellow etc. are used for sporty, personal vehicles.
Your car color can majorly affect the resale value of your car. If you are planning to sell your car in future in hopes of good resale value, it is recommended to go for popular shades like white, black or silver.
A lot of the time colors like yellow, light blue etc. can be mistaken for taxis depending on the city you live in which may degrade the whole experience by a notch. Also on the other hand luxury cars are normally bought in black and white or silver as they are matched with the luxury quotient.
Metallic and Non-Metallic:
Metallic colors are the infused version of normal color with aluminum. These car colors tend to reflect light causing it to shine much more than usual.
Non-metallic car paints are the regular colors and are much less expensive compared to metallic colors making patchwork cheaper in future. They are also less shiny and much more durable than the metallic version.
You may not always get the color that you want for the car model you choose. White, black and silver are the most common colors and may be available for all car models but the shade may vary to your liking. Some of the car colors are only limited edition and you may also have to pay extra if that is the color that you want.
A lot of times, a colour that you may want on a car may not be immediately available due to the lack of demand or in the same way if you want a popular colour choice you may have to wait due to the demand.
Your car colour should also be considered regarding the maintenance you have to do. Black for example is an expensive colour to maintain due to the dirt and dust being shown on the car. Black also gets dirtier quickly and also some special colours. White or silver hides dust and dirt better and is easier to maintain.
In the end it comes down to the personal preference but considering these factors may make the decision much easier.
