With the BS6 era starting from April, a lot of carmakers have started launching new BS6 versions of pre-existing cars. With the extreme changes in terms of engine, a lot of carmakers have decided to add on some extra features to turn this into facelifts.
The new BS6 Bolero has a starting price of Rs. 7.98 lakhs which is similar to the BS4 version. The carmaker may also be exceeding prices by Rs. 70,000 in coming months. The current facelift has 3 variations, a BS4 version, mid-spec B6 (Rs 8.64 lakh), and the top-spec B6(O) (Rs 8.99lakh). Bolero is one of the bestselling car models for Mahindra that managed to sell over 69,656 units. The popularity of Bolero is much higher in rural markets where it sold 5,500 units in January and February of this year alone.
The external styling quos include a new bumper, grille and headlamps that are again halogen units but get a neat partition, combining the beam light, hazard light and parking light. At the front, it gets a new air dam and fog lamps housing. At the back, it gets refreshed tail lamps and a new door handle for the boot gate. The new BS6 model also complies with the new crash test norms that were introduced last year along with upcoming pedestrian safety norms.
BS6 compliant Bolero will come powered with 1.5-liter, three- cylinder diesel mHawk75 engine that delivers 75hp and comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. There is no four-wheel-drive variant on offer. The car will have a fuel tank capacity of 60 liters.
The car will have similar features that of the older version like, dual airbags, high speed alert, driver and co-driver seat belt reminder and rear parking sensors as standard, along with higher versions getting static bending headlamps as standard.
The promotions for the updated Bolero will be at a minimum due to the coronavirus outbreak. The company will start to market the car again once the issue subsides with the predetermined price hike. The global auto sector has been taking a toll due to the pandemic and most of the markets are expected to suffer a huge loss. Staying home, quarantining and maintaining hygiene are the only way to battle this pandemic once and for all.
