2021 Maruti Swift Facelift - New Dualjet AMT Mileage Review
2021 Maruti Suzuki Swift Facelift with New Dualjet Engine, AMT Transmission - Mileage Review
Mileage is now even more important thanks to the rising fuel prices. Also with petrol being more in demand the need for fuel efficiency is increasing with more stress on our wallets. The most efficient cars are always Maruti cars and the new Swift is now even more efficient thanks to its new engine. Hence to test that, we drove the AMT Swift petrol and used it in the city to test its mileage and more.
Swift Facelift New Engine
The biggest talking point regarding the new Swift facelift is the new petrol engine. This is a Next Gen K-Series 1.2L Dual Jet Dual VVT engine hence it means that the new Swift petrol engine gets an engine same as the one given in the Baleno. This engine comes with Dual Jet technology (2 injectors per cylinder) and also has cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) along with an Idle Start Stop system. This engine develops more power now in the Swift with 90hp and 113Nm.
2021 Swift Facelift Mileage
The new Swift facelift has even better mileage too with an official figure of 23.20 kmpl for the manual and 23.76 kmpl for the AMT. The AMT has more in fact and it is an improvement over the earlier Swift. This makes the Swift one of the most efficient petrol cars in its class.
2021 Swift Real World Mileage
We tested the AMT version with the better mileage. In the real world the start stop system is really good and works fast. It comes on and off very well with not being a bother. That helps your mileage even though the aircon goes off. That said we got 18kmpl in the city and that is rather very good for an automatic hatchback with a petrol engine. No other AMT or AT hatch will do this much mileage. Even with enthusiastic driving with the start/stop system turned off, we got 16 at worst.
2021 Swift Driving Experience
The new petrol engine is more refined and better to drive with being smoother now. That is an improvement. The power is there and the engine is good fun to rev or drive it hard. The Swift is a light hatch and hence feels quick. The AMT version is certainly not for those who like driving but it is improved now. The better engine and the AMT gearbox means the car responds well in traffic and is smooth. In stop-go traffic there is hardly any lag or jerk. It is only when driven hard that there is a pause between the shifts else it is fine. For most the convenience of an AMT would make sense.
2021 Swift Prices
The AMT is priced at Rs 6.8 lakh starting while the top-end is Rs 8.4 lakh. The difference between AMT and manual is around Rs 50,000. The manual is more fun and we still recommend that. However with traffic, the AMT is now improved and delivers a great economy as well hence for many we think the AMT suits well as a city urban commuter. The new Swift in AMT form is a nice car and is now a better one.
