Is Renault Duster Facelift The Most Trending Thing Now? Learn in 60 Second
As the automobile industry in India started growing, the country witnessed a rise in SUV production and sale. With the increase in demand, a lot of Indian, as well as international brands, got interested in the Indian automotive market.
The already established brands also started expanding more, bringing more foreign investment to its Indian subsidiaries. As a result, a new car is launched every few months.
The car models may only have slight changes like styling, space and features but they make a huge impact when it comes to the customer’s preferences.
With the ever-increasing technological development in the automobile industry, a lot of cars are expected to have at least one feature that makes them stand out.
The cars, just like the modern human being competes in the never-ending rat race. As a result, the manufacturers have to come up with an entirely new model or the same versions of the new model every few years.
Usually, the so-called ‘facelifts’ consists of some minor exterior and interior tweaks and some minor or major safety and feature upgrades. Sometimes a new fuel option or variant is even introduced featuring a new engine.
The duster by Renault was due for a facelift since it was launched in 2012. The car does have some much-needed changes in its exteriors with the new projector headlamps, led drls, chrome front grille and redesigned front bumper as well.
The new facelift comes with an option of 16-inch alloy wheels that obviously adds to its looks. The car will also come In a new colour option ‘Caspian blue’. The car also gets some design changes like the higher bonnet, front and rear skid plates and plastic cladding at the tailgates among others.
So how does Renault duster facelift look like?
In terms of looks, the car has never looked better. The 5 seater compact SUV is 4360mm long, 1822mm wide and is 1695mm tall. The car has a wheelbase of 2673mm with a boot space of 475 litres. The new duster will come with a fuel capacity of 50 litres as usual.
The new facelift has been priced between Rs. 8 lakhs to rs. 13.1 lakhs. The car does come with a more rounded and sculpted bonnet but even on the inside, it has received some remarkable changes.
The car has a new steering wheel, apart from the steering wheel, the dashboard and the instrument cluster received a noteworthy upgrade as well. The steering receives the mounted controls as expected.
The centre console received rectangular ents along with the infotainment system and climate control. The front passenger side also receives a second cooled glove box for additional storage.
Apart from these changes not much has changed in the new duster in terms of interior. The facelift still gives off a boring interior as compared to other SUVs in the market.
The infotainment system does come with android auto and apple car play which was missing previously but the position of infotainment system remains the same.
The poorly designed structure was expected to receive a change which the company failed to deliver. A new eco readout feature also scores a driver for its efficient driving but the car still uses a basic lever for height adjust in seats that just throws off the entire look.
The seats are the same as usual, nothing much has changed from the previous version. The flat seats provide good under-thigh support. Overall the seating, just like in the previous version is just comfortable with a good amount of shoulder room as well. The car also comes with 475 litres of boot space that was expected of it.

Renault Duster Facelift Engine:
The duster is offered in 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol variant is available in both manual and CVT transmission that gives out 106ps and 142nm of torque.
The other diesel variant gives out an output of 85ps and 200nm of torque and is mated with 5-speed manual transmission only. The second diesel version gives an output of 110ps and 245nm of torque and comes mated with 6 speed manual as well as AMT version.
The diesel variant will not be getting any BS6 compilation while the petrol variant will be getting the BS6 update by 2020.
The currently available engine and fuel options are the same as before. Renault has not made any changes in its facelift in terms of its engine. Even so, the engine at its current state is one of the most powerful engines out there and results in smooth and comfortable driving experience.
The car was still expected to get a new and better gearbox instead of the old boring one but yet again, Renault failed to deliver so. Nevertheless, the car does come with a pretty good suspension.
The strong build, ease of cruising and the tall by design make the car a pretty good option. As far as mileage is concerned, the duster has an ARAI mileage of 13kmpl for petrol and 19kmpl for diesel.
Renault Duster Facelift Features:
Safety-wise the car gets the promised dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, front seat-belt reminders and a speed warning system as standard. Automatics versions also get an ESP and hill-start assist.
The top-spec variant also gets auto climate control, cruise control and a rear parking camera but sadly it is only available in the 110ps/245 nm diesel variant which again limits the choice. It does come with an automatic and manual transmission option.
The car comes in 5 variants. What’s important to note here is that the duster comes with all-wheel drive for one of its variants(rxs0). Earlier all-wheel drive was only available on the top-spec rxz variant.
This makes the AWD available for a mid-tier variant but there is a catch, the AWD variants miss out on important features like automatic climate control, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, a front armrest, electrically foldable orvms, cruise control, a rear parking camera and a rear wiper/washer.
Keeping the competition in mind, the carmakers did reduce the cost of the duster in higher trims making it one of the most affordable SUVs out there.
Renault Duster Facelift Rivals:
Renault duster will be rivalling in both compact and sub-compact SUV sections. The competition will include Hyundai creta, Nissan kicks and Maruti Suzuki s-cross. Due to its reduced pricing, the car will also interfere with the sales of Mahindra suv300 and ford ecosport.
Renault may have taken this upgrade a bit lightly since we do not see much changes in the duster which needed some. The car does get new upgrades for a facelift but it's not as impressive as the competition out there.
The carmakers have kept the pricing a bit low but a little higher budget can get you a car with better features. Overall the new duster gets some improvements but its still a disappointment for a facelift.
The carmakers have announced another variant by 2020 which may be able to get the much-needed upgrades 2019 misses on. Only time will tell how the new duster does with such high competition.
