List of Upcoming 7-Seater SUV and MUV in 2020 in India

The 2019 showed a significant rise in SUV sales comparatively. The strength, comfort and styling of a utility vehicle is being appreciated by the current generation. Along with basic 5-seater SUVs, the 7-seater family cars are being given preference as well. With the extra space and strength, going on a road trip just becomes a piece of cake. SUVs have been top of the sales list for a while now and automakers are ready to cash in on the trend.
One of the major factors in the rise of the SUV sales is its sleek, bold design. Along that comes the comfort and spaciousness of a 7-seater. With cars being relatively cheaper and the current lifestyle, owning a seven seater family car has become more convenient.
Here are some of the 7-seater SUV/MUVs that are expected to be launched in 2020-2022:
1. Mahindra XUV400
The 7-seater version of XUV 300 along based off of Tivoli’s X100 platform. The car will compete with Hyundai Creta and Tata Gravitas once launched. The car will most likely be powered by a 1.5L turbocharged diesel engine that gives out an output of 115PS of power and 300Nm of torque. The car may also receive a petrol version might come with a 1.2L turbo engine that gives output of 110PS with 200Nm. Both the engines will come with BS6 compliance and will have manual as well as automatic transmission.
2. New Mahindra Scorpio
The Scorpio facelift was expected to be revealed at auto expo 2020 but it did not quite make the cut. But we are still hopeful of the Scorpio launch to happen sometime this year. The 2020 Scorpio will have a complete new look and a BS6-compliant petrol and a 2.0L diesel engine. The new 2.0 liter diesel engine will churn out 20 BHP more power than its predecessor.
3. New Mahindra XUV 500
Just like new Scorpio, XUV 500 did not make it to the 2020 auto expo. The highly anticipated version of the XUV 500 may still decide to launch this year. The car will have a BS6 compliant 2.2L diesel motor with a power output of 180BHP. The car will be available in a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic unit.
4. New Hyundai Creta
The 7-seater Creta will be launched in the second half of 2020. The car will come accompanied with a 1.5L diesel engine that will produce power output of 115BHP. The car can also get a bigger 2.0 liter engine present in Tucson.
5. Jeep 7-Seater SUV
The new SUV by jeep will be highly based on jeep compass. The car will be powered by a 1.3L turbo MultiAir 16V diesel engine that will produce 180BHP of power and 225Nm – 245Nm of torque. The car will compete with Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Honda CR-V etc.
6. Toyota Vellfire MPV
The MPV was showcased in 2018 Delhi auto expo as Toyota Alphard. The MPV will have premium features like panoramic sunroof, automated sliding centre door and leather upholstery. The car will receive a 2.5-litre, hybrid-petrol engine with power of 197 BHP and 213Nm of torque. The car may also receive a CVT automatic gearbox.
7. Tata Gravitas
The Tata Gravitas that was initially showcased in 2019 Geneva Convention as Buzzard is also a platform for the H7X concept. It is a 7-seater harrier that will receive the same engine of 2.0L turbo Kryotec diesel engine that produces 170BHP of power and 350Nm of torque. The car will come with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic and will be offered in 2WD and 4WD.
8. KIA Carnival MPV
The Grand Carnival MPV, which was initially showcased at 2018 Delhi Auto Expo, will make its launch this year. The car will be powered by a 2L diesel engine that produces 200BHP of power and 440Nm
of torque. The car is 380mm longer and has 310mm bigger wheelbase than the Innova which is one of the biggest MPV out there.
9. MG Hector Plus
The 6 seater version of MG Hector is recently unveiled in 2020 auto expo. 6 and 7 seater version will soon be available in the Indian market. After the huge success of the 5-seater mg hector, the company will be planning to enter the MPV market. The car will receive a few tweaks in terms of design along with a 3rd row seat. The car will have 3 engine options, 1.5L turbo petrol, 1.5L petrol with 48V mild hybrid power train and 2.0L diesel unit. The car will be offered in a 6-speed manual and a DCT automatic gearbox options.
10. MG Maxus D90
Another 7-seater to come to the MPV market by MG Hector is the Maxus D90. The car may get a different name post launch. The car has 5005mm, 1932mm and 1875mm of length, width and height respectively. The car will be offered In 2.0 liter petrol and diesel engines that will come mated to either 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox.
11. Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace
Tiguan Allspace, the 7-seater version of Tiguan will have a 4701mm of length, 1839mm of width and 1674mm of height. The car was recently unveiled in 2020 auto expo. The car will have a wheelbase of 2787mm. The car will receive a BS6-compliant 2.0L TSI petrol engine that will power 180PS with 320Nm and with AWD.
