NEW RENAULT DUSTER BS6 - Variants Price List & Other Details
One of the most popular SUVs in India, the Renault Duster has been launched with a BS6 compliant engine. This comes after Triber and Kwid having received their BS6 updates. The Duster received its facelift last year in July which made it appear more modern and elegant than before. It carries its unique appearance to distinguish itself from other SUVs on the road. These include new grille, bumper and new headlamp and taillamp units. The prices of the BS6 Duster start from Rs 8.49 Lakhs and go all the way up to Rs 9.99 Lakhs (ex showroom Delhi).
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The Renault Duster is now equipped with a BS6 compliant 4-cylinder 1.5 litre petrol engine that churns out 106 PS and 142 Nm of peak torque. Unfortunately, there is no diesel engine option on offer. The 1.5 litre K9K diesel engine available earlier has been scrapped off. The new BS6 petrol engine is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. The automatic transmission has not been made available as of now. The CVT has also been discontinued.
The new Duster also misses out on the all-wheel drive transmission and now gets a front drive transmission. The Duster returns a claimed fuel economy of 14.26 kmpl. Renault might come up with a more powerful turbo petrol engine later this year, as it had displayed the 1.3 litre turbo petrol engine at the Auto Expo. The engine develops 153 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque.
The Renault Duster is equipped with a host of safety features. These include driver and passenger airbags, ABS with EBD, Brake assist, driver and passenger seatbelt reminder, reverse parking sensors, speed sensitive door locking, impact sensing door unlock and rapid deceleration warning.
The Duster consistently sells 600-700 units a month. The sales of the Duster have been significantly dented by other cars in the segment. It remains to be seen if the Duster manages to pull back some market share in this segment.
VARIANT WISE PRICES
The Renault Duster gets 3 variants: RXE, RXS and RXZ. RXE is the base variant that is priced at Rs. 8.49 Lakhs. Thus, the base variant is Rs. 50,000 costlier than the outgoing BS4 variant. Similarly, the mid variant, RXS has been priced at Rs. 9.29 Lakhs, making it closer to the BS4 version by Rs. 10,000. The top end variant has been priced at Rs. 9.99 Lakhs.
*All the prices are ex-showroom Delhi.
The Renault Duster is a part of a highly competitive segment that includes Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 300, Ford Ecosport and Honda Jazz. The segment remains dominated by Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Hyundai Venue.
