Skoda has launched the Scout version of the Kodiaq in India, as a CKD unit, priced at ₹ 33.99 Lakhs (ex-showroom). It is a more off road oriented variant and gets rugged body styling. The Scout has been positioned between the L&K and Style variants.
There has been addition of the front bumper and silver add on. On the rear bumper, there is a silver protective cover. The clear distinction between the Kodiaq and the Scout is the ‘SCOUT’ badge on both the front fenders. In the interiors, the Scout gets the Alcantara black leather upholstery. The Style and the L&K had stone beige leather upholstery. The SCOUT badging can also be seen on the seats and the dashboard. The Scout now gets dual tone attractive R (18) alloy wheels.
NEW INTERIOR FEATURES
The features which have been added to the Scout include off-road switch for hill descent control, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). The Skoda misses out on the 360-degree camera and the virtual cockpit. The Scout gets a long safety list that includes ABS, EBD, mechanical and hydraulic brake assist, ESC, driver seatbelt warning light, dual front airbags, side front and rear airbags, curtain airbags and driver knee airbag. In terms of features, the Scout has a 20.32 cm LCD TFT colour display and touchscreen, Canton sound system, Navigation system, USB connectivity, climate control, Smart Link and much more.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
There hasn’t been any change to the powerplant. The Scout is powered by the same 2.0 litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces 148 BHP and 340 Nm of torque and is paired to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox and an 4X4 wheel drive. There have been slight changes to the dimensions and weight of the Kodiaq. Its length has increased from 4697 mm to 4705 mm, so has the kerb weight from 1799 kg of the Style to the 1820 kg. the Lauren & Klament variant has a kerb weight of 1826 kg. The Scout comes in four colour options: Moon White, Quartz Grey, Magic Black and Lava Blue.
